TUSCANY ACCOMODATIONS
My girlfriend and I will be spending 5 nights in Tuscany this June. We are looking for a nice villa or hotel on a hill in a secluded area in Chiati with great views, clean rooms and breakfast. Has anyone recently stayed in any of the following establishments and if so, what are your comments:
- Ancora del Chianti
- Fattoria Agroturismo La Presura
- Villa Rosa di Boscorotondo
- Hotel Colle Etrusco Salivolpi
- Villa Casalecchi
- Podere Patrignone
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thank you
Toby

We stayed at the San Savernano agriturismo last summer and it was delightful. www.agriturismosavernano.it
While not technically in Chianti, it is very close - just across the A1. It is about 20 min to Greve in Chianti. The San Savernano is family owned and relatively new so the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was great - Davide the owner will make you fresh eggs if you want them. The optional dinners were delicious too and the location was gorgeous - set on a hill with views all around. Breakfast and dinner are served outdoors. Great pool too. There were other guests from Ireland, Belgium, France, and England when we were there.

Try Fattoria Viticcio www.fattoriaviticcio.com in Greve in Chianti. There are nice rooms or apartments (which would be my choice) a great pool, gorgeous views and nice day trips if so inspired. The picture at the top of my blog is of the Fattoria. We lived there for a year and loved every minute. www.janeandken.blogspot.com If you use the tags on the right sidebar you will find more info about this place. Also, check out the Greve tags.

We stayed here a few years ago. It is very isolated, very beautiful, very romantic .....It's also only about twenty minutes from Siena.

We stayed at Villa Bordoni outside of Greve in April 2006 and absolutely loved it. Great rooms, great views and really nice people. The one thing I remember the most was the smell....they had so many herbs growing that when you opened your window, the smell was amazing. Go to www.villabordoni.com and check it out.

Toby,
We stayed (2000) at Hotel Residence San Sano****, 2 min drive north of Siena off the Chianti hwy. San San is a TINY village w/ 1 family run trattoria and no other commercial establishment.
The hotel has about 12 rooms in ancient stone village buildings, a pool and a lovely flower and herb garden where they serve breakfast and dinner (optional by res) under the arbor.
Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Paradise! check them out on www.chanti.net
