Easiest way to Chaminox from Geneva
My son-in Law (a first time Europe traveler) is trying to find the easiest way from Geneva to Chaminox. I will be with him until he leaves for France. A car is not an option. Is train or bus the best and simplist? Also, what are the odds of having "good" ski snow in very early December? Any former Chaminox people out there?

Car would be ideal. There is bus service from the Gare Routiere (tel. 41-022-732 0230), in the center of Geneva. Perhaps there are trains from the Gare des Eaux Vives, but am not really sure.

Odds of good snow in December? Depends on the weather gods, frankly. Best bets are Argentiere and glacier skiing.
Ann,

The bus is the way to go!

Here are the schedules:
http://www.gare-routiere.ch/en/lignes/fr_chamonix.shtml

Snow in early December has actually been better than around New Year in the recent past, but you never know... anyway, Chamonix will always have some lifts open.

Hope this helps,
Andre

internetconnect,

Just checked this out and the new direct to the ski resort schedules (includes Chamonix) is ridiculously long:
http://212.147.53.122/WWAWP/WWAWP.EXE/CTX_1904-1-BsJofmgnqP/BILLET2/SYNC_233420750/ISMAP/CLICAGE0

If that doesn't work, just go to the home page at
www.gare-routiere.ch
and click your way to the schedules.

Hope this helps,
Andre

Hello internetconnect,

Those links work for me. Just go to www.gare-routier.ch, then click on the flag for English, then click on the link for schedules -- as Andre advises. It just worked here.

s

Internetconnect,

Hmmm... I have no idea why you're having trouble (BTW, Swandav made a spelling mistake in his link - it's www.gare-routierE.ch).

One last try:
www.gare-routiere.com
also works for me.

Andre
