Dublin...B&B or Hotel suggestions

I will be going to Ireland in May 2005 with a group tour. At the end of our 2 weeks I will be staying an extra night in Dublin so that I have another day to see the sights that were not included on the tour and do a little shopping. I do not yet know what hotel we will be staying in, and I don't mind changing to a different place for my last night.

I would like some recommendations of either a B&B or small hotel that is centrally located, and moderately priced, and has a "bit of character".

I was thinking about staying in the Temple Bar district, but after reading several of the posts here maybe an area that is a "bit more quiet" but still centrally located would be better since I will be leaving on an early flight the next day.

Any recommendations are greatly apprecated!

Thanks!

By the sounds of it you would be better off in a hotel in Dublin for 1 night. We stayed in Navan in a B&B and took public transportation in (which was excellent) but you are probably going to want to maximize your time there. Sorry I don't have a specific suggestiong for you.

We stayed in two places in Dublin the summer before last. Loved La Stampa hotel on Dawson street. Centrally located, fabulous rooms, not pricey, and tons or character. No elevator, if that will be a problem for you.

What is your price range. Forget Temple Bar it is really LOUD on the weekends and in warm weather. I have never seen the rooms in La Stampa but it is supposedly nice but I thought it my be pricey as its a Boutique type of hotel. Its a great location.

Try Dublin 4- it's a quick and easy DART ride from the city. Mount Herbert Hotel is a favorite. Enjoy!
