Dublin hotel question

We are going to Dublin for 3 nights in August - myself, my husband, our 12 and 14 year olds, and my mother-in-law. We want to stay in the St Stephen's Green area. We can afford to stay at the Fitzwilliam or something comparable (so relatively good hotel), but I am intrigued by the ability to stay at Trinity College for my 14 year old. And we are ok with barebones, as long as it is clean and relatively quiet. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Be aware that if you stay in Trinity College you might be based in Goldsmith Hall - a modern building not quite on the campus itselfbut about 100 metres or so away from it. It's a bit soulless, and while clean it would be more fun for you to stay in the historic area of the campus proper.

I think that it would be a nice place to stay (I'm a bit biased because I work there!) - right in the centre of the city but it's locked up at night-time (you will still have access) so it's very quiet after dark.

Thanks Ter2000. Any suggestions on how to avoid being put in the modern building? Or is just luck of the draw?

Check out the "room types" section of the website - you should get a good idea there -
