driving from madrid to cordoba

i understand that this is a long and boring trip. any advice for interesting places to stop along the way? thanks so much!

We're doing this drive next month and will be stopping off in Almagro after a long plane trip instead of pushing on to Cordoba. We lived in Spain for many years but have never been to Almagro. It will be our "new" place for this trip.

From city center to city center in 1h 40 mins with the high speed AVE train (renfe.com). The 250 miles will take some 4 hours with a car.
