Copenhagen at Christmas?

My husband wants to spend his 40th birthday in Copehagen---on Dec. 24. We are concerned, about the weather at that time. Any reasons not to go? Or is it lovely there at Christmas? Neither of us have been there to Denmark. We plan to stay about 4 days.

Thanks for your advice!

Tivoli is open from Nov 12 to Dec 23 so it would be a wonderful way to lead into his birthday.

Thanks for the tip on Tivoli. I will be in Copenhagen in a few weeks and I figured it would be closed.

lins - there is never a reason not to go to Europe. I'm leaving for my 10th trip and I'm just as excited as I was on my first! Go for it! Enjoy your trip.

If you are not used to being that far north in the winter time, then be aware that the sun sets rather early in the day, more correctly, mid-afternoon, and doesn't rise until later in the morning, so the days are very short, about 7-1/2 hours of daylight. It will also be on the chilly side, but the weather was actually mild last Christmas day. You can check the weather projections on-line at The Weather Underground.

Hi,
just thought that I would let you know that on dec 24 everything will be totally closed in Copenhagen - we celebrate christmas the night of the 24. On dec 25 and 26 everything will be closed as well. Some restaurants and cafes and some museums and cinemas will be open, but no shops. You should check the opening hours of the things you want to see, as many of them are closed for the three christmas days. THat said, Copenhagen is beautiful at christmas, and Tivoli is a must. If you have the time you could also go to Malmø in Sweden, it takes 45 min by train from Copenhagen - also very beautiful at christmas.
