Cesky Krumlov, Telc

I know that I have had a post similiar to this but am trying to finalize plans so that I can make a hotel reservation in CK and for the Baroque theatre. My time in CK unfortunately landed on a monday and much of what I want to do is closed. This is what it looks like now. I know that we want to see Telc, and CK (castle to include theatre tour, and possibly do boat trip to Zlata Koruna Abbey (also closed Monday) and hopefully Hluboka Castle (north of CK (also closed Monday)
Day 1- depart Budapest and pick up a car in Brno,at about 2:00, spend the night in Telc
DAy 2-
Day 3
Day 4-Sunday, probably do CK castle and boat trip to Abbey (is this possible to do in 1 day
Day 5 Monday- since all sights we want to see are closed we'd probably do brewing tour maybe , walking tour etc.Any other thoughts for this day?
Day 6 to Prague, need to drop car by 2:00
So, I have read that Slavonice, Trebon, & Znojmo are all nice areas. Whish are your favorite areas/sites in this area? Would you do those as a day trip from Telc or spend the night enroute to CeskyKrumlov? It seems that the only way we can fit in the Hluboka castle in is to do it on Day 3; if so then I suppose we should spend another night in CK. What are thoughts on Hluboka castle, about how long would it take to visit. I guess another option would be to do on the way to Prague, Day 6, but that may cut us close on returning the car.

Maybe on Day 5 you could go to Znojomo. Znojomo is definitely doable as a daytrip from Telc; that is what we did, & I think the drive from Telc to Znojomo was about 90 minutes. I don't have a map in front of me, but Znojomo is close to Austrian border, & I think it wouldn't make sense to go there en route to CK.

Regarding Day 6, I don't think you could make it back to Prague by 2PM if you stop in Hluboka. You would have to leave CK very early. I think it is a 3-hour drive to Prague. We had a tour of Hluboka, so it depends on when they offer the English tour; I don't think there were a lot. So I do remember waiting for the tour. We also had lunch in the town. So it took us all day to drive from Prague, have lunch & tour Hluboka, then continue on to CK. If memory is correct, we arrived in CK in early evening.

Where do you plan on staying overnight for Day 2 & 3?

Is there a particular reason to do a boat trip to the abbey? It's so close to CK that you could possibly get a taxi quite reasonably. I drove from CK to the abbey and didn't notice any particularly impressive scenery that would be a benefit from a boat trip. Perhaps a taxi one way and the boat the other? I'm sure the boat will take lots more time than driving there.

I really enjoyed this abbey and the tour there.

You can see the castle and abbey in the same day if you drive. I'm not sure about if you take the boat as I don't know how long a trip it is on the boat. Do the castle first. I had problems when I booked and paid for a mid afternoon tour at the castle - I never found the guide and after going to the office to ask about the guide they couldn't locate him/her either. They told me to come back for a later tour (after I protested that I had paid for the tour and there was no guide where I was told to meet). I never did get back for the later tour. I suspect I was the only person on an English tour and either the office didn't locate a guide or the guide didn't want to bother.

I enjoyed Trebic which is about 1.5 hours from Telc.

I read somewhere that the boat ride is nice but certainly not necessary. We will still have our car till we drop it in Prague on Day 6.
Kwoo, thanks for the info about not enought time to drive to Prague and do the castle as well. Did you like like Hluboka Castle because if we are going to do that it may be necessary to do that on Day 3 and then spend the nights of Day 3,4,&5 in CK (thank seems like a bit much). It is too bad that we are there on a Monday. The only think that I could do different with that is to head toward Prague and spend the night along the way.I was thinking that you may have reported in an earlier post that you did Slavonice as will as Znojomo. If so, do you have a preference if we have time for only one. At this time I was thinking of probably spending the night of Day 2 in Telc but flexible. I have a place to stay in Telc the 1st night but nothing else yet. I do think we need reservation in CK.

On another post perhaps 2 months ago, I mentioned being on an English tour of Hblocka with another couple from US, which paid about 100 koruna ($35?) 'bribe' to a girl who may have been one of the guides, who took us on a non-tour tour of the castle (rooms, kitchen, dungeon): areas not on the usual Czech or English tour. It was more, say, rustic or perhaps, medieval and non-refurbished, than the castle in CK. Interesting to see the two, juxtaposed in the same trip.

Hi Tidy,
No, we did not go to Slavonice. We loved Hluboka & think it is well worth seeing. The owner of the pension we stayed at in Prague recommended it to us. He also gave us the phone number of his friend who owns a wine cellar in Znojomo, which is why we went there, plus there were nostalgic reasons for going there. (My daughter went to a wine festival at Znojomo when she was studying in Prague several years before.)

We spent one night in Telc but I know that some people stay thee for 2 nights because there are many castles in the area to visit.
