Does anybody know of any car pick up similar to JustAirports.com in London but for CDG in Paris? I prefer to have a car pick me up after a long flight and not have to think about which subway exit and carrying my luggage a block or two or more? I'm going to Paris this year and would like to have a car service pick me up.

I've never been able to find one and I've never seen a logical reason for one. Unlike London, in Paris a taxi is your best bet and actually less expensive than any car service I've ever heard about. Simply go out to the taxi line and they will help you into one. Just make sure you have your address clearly written out for them.

There is the AirFrance bus which is a very comfortable and convenient ride to several locations in Paris. You don't have to fly AirFrance to get it. I took it to the Arch de Triumph and you could get a cab from there.

Thank you both, it's good to know. And since I speak French,(my original language) it shouldn't be a problem communicating with the taxi driver...though, I certainly intend to write it down, because different accents...etc.. and who knows where I could end up.

It is a good idea to write down the hotel name, address and phone#, as quite a few hotels have very similar names (Hotel de la Paix, for example, one in the 7th, one in the 14th).

When solo or a couple we usually grab a taxi - quick if there is no queue. With more people in the group we have used and been pleased with Airport Connection (minivan, not shared shutttle). www.airport-connection.com

You didn't say where you were staying, but there are several bus services that cost a lot less than a car.

I'm not sure where I'm staying yet because the time of my trip isn't confirmed yet. At first I wanted to go at the end of May but I switched jobs and that time period doesn't work well for vacation on this job. The other 2 options are in July (which I would much prefer not to do) or October.

How is October, weather wise? I'm going to Paris, go through Normandy, Belgium and then end my trip in Amsterdam?

I just returned from Paris and used a cab to and from CDG. Departing the airport with 2 people was 25 euros. Now, going back to the airport was much more -- 54 euros. They have a cap on what they can charge you leaving the airport but not one goint to the airport. We've used Paris Shuttle as well and not any cheaper and you have to leave your hotel so early to accomodate other stops on the way.

We had no waiting in the line outside the airport and it was a Sunday afternoon.

Take a taxi from the queue--Taxi Parisien. Quick, cost effective (particularly if there are 2 or more), door to door, safe, etc. It may even be more certain than a car service that has to find YOU.

Do consider that if your taxi arrives in Paris during rush hour (which can be anytime of day depending on who managed to block traffic where) the meter keeps running, whereas a shuttle or limo service charges a fixed fee.

October in Paris is usually pleasant, although it can be rainy. In Normandy however, it will be pretty cool in comparison with late May.

we were in Paris twice last year. On b oth trips, we used Paris Shuttle for our trip into the city, and on the return trip got a taxi to Opera and the Roissy Bus out to the airport. It worked perfectly - the minivan left us at our hotel on the inward trip, and we knew where we were on the departure day, and just got a taxi to the Roissybus stop. The buses are very frequent, and quite cheap.

I take cabs between CDG and Paris several times a year and never heard about or noticed anything like this. And I've never had a 25-euro ride into Paris from CDG in the past 5 years. I've never been in anything other than a metered (Taxi Parisian) cab, and the meter starts running the minute you get in the cab, whether you're going from the airport into Paris or from Paris to the airport.
In "fluide" traffic, it costs me about 35 euros a ride. In not so "fluide" traffic, up to 55 euros. But I really don't believe there's any system of "caps" on rides from the airport, unless it's something that's been instituted since last October.

All I know is what the fare was and also, what the concierge told us. We asked what the fare to the airport would be and told him of our fare from the airport and that's the story we got from them about the " cap ". To the airport was 65 euros. Both ways was with traffic. Not saying its a scam -- just reporting the facts of our trip.

Still like Paris anyway.
