paris taxi 1:00 am wh smith

Hello, My 13 year old would love to go to the Harry Potter release party at WH Smith. The book goes on sale at 1:01 am so the metro will be shut down. We are living in the 5th arrondisement (near th 13th) so walking is out. Does anyone know if taxis are at the stand at the place de concorde at that time of night or will we have to call. Also any idea how much? The lady at WH Smith did not know if there were taxis at the stands at that time of night because they are not usually open then. Any help is much appreciated!

This is just a guess but since the Crillon is right there I would suspect a taxi would be available. Another option could be the night buses.

There will be zillions of cabs either at the taxi stand in Concorde or in front of the Intercontinental on rue de Castiglione, and, for once, just driving down the rue de Rivoli. So I wouldn't be worried EXCEPT if it's on a Saturday night (another kettle of fish altogether as we sadly know... ). Come what may there will be plenty of "competition" from other kids wanting to get home at exactly the same time. But if we are on a week day, it's still manageable.

It's not at all out of the question to walk home, especially if the weather is nice. Paris is a small city. I routinely walk home from all sorts of locations in the city.

The night buses would be particularly appropriate for Harry Potter fans (count me in!).

Thanks for all the replies. I think we will try and go for the cab since a 4.5 km walk might be too much for a 13 year old and her much older father. I just wasn't sure if there would be any around - I am an early to bed early to rise person so I haven't been out in Paris at that time. Appreciate any other advice.
