Car Rental Turkey

Can anyone recommend a car rental company they have used for travel in Turkey. I'm planning to go from Istanbul , down the Aegean coast and up to Cappadocia.
Thanks

We used autoeurope and they were fine. Nice to deal with, reasonably priced. We picked the car up at the Izmir airport and dropped it off at the Antalya airport.

Are you aware of gasoline prices in Turkey? In early March, 1 gallon of gas in Istanbul $9.77.

I had the most bizarre car rental experiences in Turkey. At the airport in Kayseri, there was no car rental kiosks. The car rental agent never showed up, so I wound up giving the car to the manager (or someone) who worked at the airport. About 15 minutes later, I wanted a soda and went to a tiny concession stand, where the same fellow to whom I just gave the car was behind the counter.

And in Cesme, we were supposed to drop off another car at a hotel, excpet they were closing for the season and the place resembled the hotel from The Shining. And much back in forth they lead us to another hotel about 15 minutes away to drop off the car.

So just be aware of dropping cars in smaller towns and airports.

Diesel is currently about $2.23/liter and gasoline $2.62

Aduchamp always has bizarre experiences. He thinks the same guy at kayseri airport also picked his pocket in the tram in istanbul. (read his trip report)

Just a couple of weeks ago we rented a car in Dalaman and dropped it off at Izmir airport. There are a limited number of agents in Dalaman and an even more limited number that listed a mid-size vehicle as we desired. We chose Alamo because they did have the mid-size which is the size someone recommended to us for two reasons: power in the mountains and the safety factor. Another advantage, I think reasonable (for me), for using an American branded agent was the no pre-payment reservation or even a reservation guarantee requirement; further I felt that if there were any issues after the fact, such as damage charges, they would be easier to handle. The cost for the mid-size was considerably more expensive than the tiny standard but I wouldn't have wanted to be driving anything with less power, safety or comfort for the nine days we had the vehicle.

Benzene (gasoline) is expensive but in the nine days we had the car we purchased less than US200. The rental costs were about US700. We could have gotten the smaller cars for about US$500. The price included the drop-off charge of Euro140.

If I were to have wanted a car for day trips from a single location, perhaps I would then opt for the smaller vehicle.

We were two adults with luggage. The agent delivered the car to our hotel at no charge.

Happy travels.

Other

There is a word in Yiddish chazerai which means junk. Every time I heard Kayseri, I thought of that.

And I was pickpocketed on the way to your house!!!
