Hello helpful Turkey forum people! This is our last bit of basic stuff to take care of early-- car rental. I have already heard great advice about the type of car, but now we are wondering about logistics. We arrive in Uçhisar on October 10 and our plan is to drive on the 11th to the Ihara Valley, and on the 12th around Göreme. Where would be the best place to return the car rental at the end of the day on the 12th? I think maybe we can return it to Urgup or Kayseri or Nevşehir. We would then need to use dolmus (?) to return to the the Kale Konak in Uçhisar where we are staying. We fly out from Kayseri first thing in the morning on the 13th and dont really want to deal with car return and making the flight at once. Much obliged for thoughts!

Best is to check with the rental agency. Who knows, they may actually pick it from your hotel, or even drive you to the airport early 13th morning?

Not all rental agencies may have offices in the cities of Cappadocia.

How early in the morning is your flight? If you have to stay in Kayseri, return the car there the day before and take a taxi the next morning. That's what we did because our flight left at 6:30 a.m.

markandmargot, You will get the best advice from otherchelebi.
You can ask the car rental agency to deliver the car to your hotel on day 1 and drop you to Kayesari airport on day 3 morning. They will charge you extra for the petrol for return from the airport and may not charge you for the driver.
Best bet would be to talk to your hotel owner, if he can rent you the car. You can complete the car returning formalities on the night before you fly out. Just pay the cash at the airport. People are very warm and helpful and will extend you all the help.
We arrived at Kayesari at 9 pm. The car rental agency had a driver waiting for us outside Kayesari airport. He picked us up and dropped at the hotel at Goreme ( 70 km- 1.30 hrs) and took the car back from our hotel the next night. he charged us just 15% extra for all that.
Around Goreme, Pasabagi has the most exciting rock formation in the region. Cauvesin and Goreme valley are next best.
