Burgundy and Loire in 4 days - folly?
We will be traveling from Switzerland into France in August and would love to split 4 days between Burgundy and the Loire Valley before proceeding to Paris.
My thought would be to take the train to Dijon, rent a car and explore that area for 2 days, then drive west to the Loire Valley for 2 days of chateaux hopping. Would that stretch us too thin? Is the drive between the two scenic/pleasant? How long would it take us?
Another option would be to travel from Switzerland directly to the Loire (train via Paris) and stay there the full 4 days.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

It can be done but one day will be driving between Burgundy and the better known Loire chateaux. The drive between the two can be scenic if you choose to drive via Sancerre and the forest west of it. Rent the car in Dijon and return it either in Tours or Angers to take the TGV to Paris or return the car in Paris itself.
Get yourself a map and guidebooks to decide establish an itinerary--your touring will have to be mainly linear, going from Dijon to the Loire valley.

Agree with StCirq.
I probably would TGV into Paris and then to Tours, and rent a car from there. A heck of a lot less stressful. I've done 1 and 2 day auto rentals in Tours. Just pick your base and you'll be fine.
Driving on smaller roads in France seem to take one through every tiny town, and slow through each town, etc....

You might want to look at www.viamichelin.com and enter Dijon to Angers as a scenic route. It's about 500 km.
