Best Hotel Location In Nice?

We would love to hear your recommendations for the best location in Nice? Any specific hotel reccos?

We've stayed in everything from 1-5 stars, so we're not hotel snobs - but we do like CLEAN hotels with great locations. (We are somewhat lazy in that we prefer to be "near the action" vs. walking 30 mins to get there...

Ideas?

I have stayed at the Boscolo Plaza in Nice twice. A garden separates it from the Mediterranean. Very good location. Very good hotel. I would stay there again. Boots

I've stayed at Hotel Westminster and the Palais de la Mediterranee, both of which are in very central locations on the Promenade des Anglais. Try looking on the Small Luxury Hotels of the World website, and see if you get a deal on the Palais de la Mediterannee. Its rooms and services are better than Hotel Westminsters.

Both hotels are within a very short walk of Vieux Nice and across the street from the sea.

Also check La Perouse. I haven't stayed there, but it is in a beautiful location only about a two-minute walk from Vieux Nice.

La Perouse with a view of Nice beach from the perfect angle, located at the edge of Vieux Nice.

Weadles, I'm a bit surprised to hear le Palais de Mediterranee is a member of SMALL luxury hotels as it looks quite big and a casino attached to it.

You can check another thread "Which of these 2 hotels in Nice is best?", where a few posters recommend La Perouse and why. It could already be on the 2nd or 3rd page though.

kappa,

My error! I gave the wrong website in my earlier post. LEADING LUXURY HOTELS OF THE WORLD represents the Palais de la Mediterranee. I got a great deal on a seaview room last summer.

BTW, the hotel isn't as big as it looks. The casino/restaurant/pool and health club area take up an entire floor. The hotel is above that and as I remember, only has about 3 or 4 floors total.

Just this past fall we stayed at Le Grimaldi at 15 Rue Grimaldi/16 Rue Maccarani----nice linens, towels and very clean. It goes through from one street to the other, thus the two addresses. You can have a look at www.le-grimaldi.com .It does not have a view as many other hotels mentioned but it is a great location. You could walk to anywhere you wanted in Old Nice and along the water. We enjoyed meals especially at Kei's Passion and Les Viviers. We would definitely stay there again. They also had free internet access in the lobby.
