Can Lake Bled be done as a day trip or is it better to spend the night there? Thanks!

It is not far--a day trip will suffice.

Soca River Valley, Goriska Brda (if you like wine), Piran, and Plesnik. This will take you to many of the different regions and they are all so different! enjoy!
Cheers,
Jan

To runnsally -- Lake Bled can be done in a day trip easily, but it is a very lovely area to spend the night. We stayed overnight there and we liked it much better than Ljubljana. JMHO

Lake Bled is easily done in one day. I did not spend the night there but I had a great time. Postojna is also a day trip-actually less. Actually, the entire country is beautiful save Ljubljana.

Any other suggestions for fun Ljubljana day trips that don't require a car? Anything that gives a good flavor of slovenia. Thanks!

Take the number 8 bus out to Smarna Gora and climb the 'mountain'. All the locals do it. It is a nice little climb and there is a the requisite church and bar/restaurant at the top. You can also visit the local Gostilna 'Kosiri" after your walk. It's a real local hang out but don't be in a hurry b/c the service is s l o w. That is real Slovenia!
cheers,
Jan
