bed and breakfast or farmstay near siena
I am looking for a place to stay for 5 days near siena for less than $150E a night. Other than trips to Siena we plan to visit San Giminano and maybe Voltera. Idealy we'd like to be less than 20km away from Siena to make dinner trips not too much of a drive.
Anyone know any of these:
Borgo Grondaire
Fontebenedetta Casa
Il Colombiao
Villa Curina
Palazo a Merse
Castello Di Bossi
L'Aia Country Holiday
Agraturismo Biologico Antico Uliveto
Fattoriad Catignano
Residence San Lorenzo a Linari
Araturismo Vigliano
Thanks!

A couple of years ago we stayed at a place called Borgo Grande. (That is my recollection. Sorry I don't have notes.) I don't know if that is the same as Borgo Grondaire or not, but we chose it based on reviews from here and Trip Advisor. It was lovely. It was very near the train station, so from one direction, the property seemed less than scenic, but from most vantage points, it was beautiful. It was actually a working olive farm. The room and bathroom were large. It is not the classic house on a hilltop that we often think of as Tuscany, but it was perfectly located since we were leaving for Rome by train and wanted to turn in the rental car in Sienna. It was hard to find, but well worth the effort. One of my favorite places we have stayed. PJK

Hi, Koala.
This may be a bit outside you mileage requirement to Siena, but not by much, and it's a *wonderful* place to stay. My girlfriend & I were there last October and made easy jaunts to Siena & San Giminano, with the added blessing of Silvia's amazing cooking to come home to after sightseeing, with many (usually American) guests to visit and wine with. It's truly a gem. You can see photos & links to a trip report I did of a 2000 stay there, (including detailed notes on her cooking ;^), and to their site here:

Their rates are under 150 E, and include *both* a fabulous breakfast and a fabulous dinner.

I am still trying to find a place near Siena. One place Il Colombiao and others I have seen have charges for AC and heat listed like this:
Heating: SO-RO-FO € 8 (daily)
Heating: CA-PA-BE-TI-FI € 12 (daily)
Final Cleaning: SO-RO-FO € 21
Final Cleaning: CA-PA-BE-TI-FI € 26
What do all the letters mean? Thanks Kelli
