B&B's: prices? reservations? priv bath?
My friend and I are both photographers and just Got back on Sept 19 from 6 days in Ireland on Sceptre Tours fly/drive.
3 hotels were pre-booked for us. We had such a great time, I'm ready to go back.
I'd like to travel for 10 days in April with my husband. We have Frequent Flier tickets on reserve & a rental car priced out (306E for automatic car, 10 days)
I'd like to keep our plans open and just wander, starting in Limerick and then out to different peninsulas.
How much are B&B's on the west coast of Ireland (Dingle, Westport, Cong)?
Can I reserve a day ahead?
Do they usually have a private bath - something my husband really prefers?

It's a great place... looks like you are hooked!
Q: How much are B&B's on the west coast of Ireland (Dingle, Westport, Cong)?
About the same as they are elsewhere, with the obvious variation for distance to town, etc. I'd say maybe €30 - €40 pps, maybe a bit more if you go with an upscale guesthouse instead.
You can start looking here http://www.ireland-bnb.net/ and here http://www.townandcountry.ie/ for an idea.
Q: Can I reserve a day ahead?
Sure. In April, places should be fairly open in case you also decide to wing it.
Q: Do they usually have a private bath - something my husband really prefers?
For the most part, yes. Look for 'ensuite' when cheking out listings.

Cong is not really on the west coast. It's a bit inland. I would suggest Galway (Salthill), Doolin, Spiddal or Ross a'Veal.
B&B Price can be somewhat deceptive: Most are priced PPS (per person sharing); and sometimes one can find a Hotel or GuestHouse with room prices less expensive. Most Hotels and GuestHouses include full Irish breakfast in their room rate.
Figure on 35-to-40 Euro PPS. That's more than $100 /night! Some B&B's were deeply discounting their prices this year because the strength of the Euro vs. USD cut into American Tourism there.
In April, except for the Easter Holidays, you shouldn't have much trouble reserving a B&B one day in advance.
Make a list of B&B's along your route. Book your first night in advance. Buy an Eircom Phone Card when you get to Shannon, so you can call ahead a day in advance to book your next B&B
