Barcelona Airport to Pals
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've had a disastrous start to my holiday, i.e. didn't get out of Dublin Airport due to the children being on my passport and not having their own. Anyway, I have sorted passports and am due to fly tomorrow evening and land in Barcelona at 10.15 approximately. We were due to travel with others in hired cars but now I will have to make my own way there. I have been given a figure of 195 euro to get a taxi which I am trying to avoid doing.
If I got the train into Sants and from there to figueres, would I be there or there abouts? I can't find a timetable so does anyone know if there would be trains leaving that late in the evening for Figueres? And how much approximately would it cost for 1 adult and 2 children?
I'm not a great travel planner at the best of times and having less than a day to do it is frightening. I'd appreciate some help.

You can check the schedule on Renfe.es. There are a number of trains each day but the last one departs Barcelona for Figueres at 21h46, well before you land.
You can check with Abaser (www.abaser.es) ti see what they charge. It's a 1-1/2 hour drive, so the rate you were quoted would be fairly normal with most transfer services.

Many thanks Robert, now that I have had time to calm down and get more information I have more or less decided to get the 6.40am flight on Saturday morning if it is still available. I will get the train to Sants and from Sants get a train to Flaca which is nearer again. Could you tell me if I need to prebook tickets or can I buy at the station? I have no Spanish or Catalan so my communication skills will be a problem. I don't even know where the station is in the airport but I'm sure I'll find it. Also, if I do go to Sants, is it announced on the train, is there a map on the train to see how many stations away it is from Barcelona Airport, likewise with Flaca? And if I decided to delay my train to Flaca, is Sants near any 'touristy' things I could see in Barcelona? It would be a shame to go from airport to station to station and not see a bit of Barcelona while I'm there. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Both the Regional and MD trains stop at FLAÇA, so there shouldn't be a problem catching any of the trains. The MD trains are the quickest, fewer stops. FLAÇA is the last stop before Figueres on the MD train. Tickets can be purchased at the station, or online. They do announce the stops. The trip takes less than two hours on the MD train.
Sants station is the main railway station in the city, about a 40 minute walk, or 8 minutes by taxi, from Plaça de Catalunya. You can also take the Metro Line 1, about 18 minutes, but be aware of pickpockets in the Metro station. They're active.
