Sorry I don't have an answer...
I'm just topping as I'm looking for a place in Lucca as well. Price seems right on this one - but we know even if the fodorites have nothing to say on this, the'll tell us what else is wonderful!

Sorry, didn't stay here but LOVED our week in Lucca. By all means please take the time to rent bikes and ride around the city on the wall.
After dark walking amoungst the families out for a stroll and a gelato made us feel like we belonged there.

Hi,
Believe it or not I have stayed there. We arrived in Lucca without a place to stay and the tourist office got us a room there. The price and the location is great. It is near the old arena. It is two flights up without an elevator and it is simple. Make sure you get a room with a bath as some rooms did not have baths and you used the one in the hall. It is clean and the lady who owns the place was very nice. She speeks English and called ahead for dinner reservations. We ate at a great restaurant, which I do not remember the name, and Bette Mitler was there with her husband. We had a triple and there was enough room for the three of us, but not extra room. My memory is there was a common kitchen where you could make a cup of tea. It is not luxurious, but it was fine for us. It is more of a pensione than a hotel, so if you need hotel amenities it might not be for you.

Sorry, not Casa Alba, but Albergo San Martino is a great little hotel in Lucca, and when we stayed there, they were well priced. Inside the walls, not a far walk to the train station, and a secret hidden, and I believe free, parking lot.

Breakfast was just so-so, but the rooms and bathroom, and the staff were all great.
