Anyone know about Benevento in Italy?

Hi all
Our daughter is moving from here in Australia to Benevento in Italy. She and her boyfriend are planning a year or two there as he has a job contract.
Does anyone have any experience of the town / city? My husband and I are going to visit them in April next year as part of a three month trip.
I hope somone knows the place...It doesn't seem to get much coverage on the net!
Thanks
Rosie

There are actually a number of towns of this name in Italy: what province/region is it in?

Hi LJ
Oops!
The Benevento I am referring to is in Campagnia, inland from Napoli.
Thanks
Rosie

Okay, well this is probaby a bit random and not much help, but I've been reading a book about the Normans in Southern Italy (11th century) and Benevento gets a LOT of mentions as a very significant town in the period, so I imagine there's a few interesting sites there. It was also a Papal town at some point.

It may be worth asking this question on the forum of italymag.co.uk - there's certainly (english-speaking) people on that site who live in Campagnia and may know more about the town.

Thanks Kate!
That web site looks helpful.
I don't know how easy it will be for my daughter to get a visa for a lengthy stay in Italy or to work. Her boyfriend is on a rugby contract. Anyone know about visas? I'll have put out a new post I think!

Thanks again
Rosie

Italian Visa's /permessos are obtained through the consulate offices and are for specified periods of time and must be accompanied at time of request by full health insurance coverage information/passports et al. This usually involves two visits to the consulate offfice and some degree of patience. Have as much information regarding employment/address where she is going to be living as you can muster for these visits. After all, the Italians invented bureaucracy and nobody does it better!

I know this is a rather old post but we will be landing in Rome in May and I was planning on a pit stop here before spending 2 wks in Puglia. Does anyone have a quaint hotel recommendation?

Here's the city's website so you might find something there.

http://www.comune.benevento.it/

Click on alberghi or agriturismo.
