Anyone ever use a private tour guide in Stockholm?
We will be in Stockholm for 2 1/2 days in August and I am thinking about hiring a private guide for a day. Has anyone ever done this and if so, how did you like it? Any info is appreciated!

Hi!
Try these guys, good service: http://absolutestockholm.com
My wife and I had a private tour with a great guide for a couple of hours - really rewarding.

I am back from my trip and want to let people know that we hired Maria from www.stockholmstories.se for a 2 hour walking tour of Gamla Stan in Stockholm. Maria was a delight!! She is a native Stockholmer and full of knowledge and stories about the city and its history. She will show you details about the history of the buildings and the streets and tell funny stories. Her style is conversational, not preachy. We had 6 people in our group and it was great. I would not recommend her for a large group because it might be hard to hear her. But I do recommend her for a small group. It was a fun experience!

Leopold the Private Tour Guide is guide I really would like to recommend! I found him on the site Leopold the Private Tour Guide (www.leopoldtheprivatetourguide.com), and at first I was unsure I would hire him as I where looking for I high profile guide. I wanted to find someone that could give me sharp analyses but at the same time deliver an entertaining package, someone that really would listen to me! Last time I hired a private tour guide was in Paris, and that guide just did his thing, not taking into consideration my interest or my questions (no tip to him!).
Leopold was the contrary to this! It started out as a historical walk in the old town, but after pin-pointing our questions he turned the tour around (to our delight!) and gave us a total insight in the Swedish road map to energy efficient, clean, power! Very interesting twist and he really knew what he was talkning about!
John, Wilma, Barbara, Zoe and the little delegation from Exxon Mobile,
thank you Leopold!

We found a web site of Toursbylocals. We used them in 3 different cities and countries. They were by far the best guides and their knowledge was endless.
I would also suggest looking for small group tours. We took one in Italy that cut off at 8 people and it was great. It was also half the price and included our transportation. I just was searching online and found both. Have fun!
