Hello julia and ekscrunchy. Here is the website for a gentleman in Sorrento that use to post on Fodor's. He hasn't posted for quite sometime, no doubt his business is keeping him too busy. Fodorite's that have used his car service posted that they had been very pleased that they had, I don't remember the various Fodorite's names however.

Anyway you might want to review the website. Best regards.

Try this web site - www.sorrento.it/en/index.php. Last June the journey from Naples to Sorrento cost 80 eu (pick up after 7 p.m.) and the return journey cost 70 eu.

julia1 - Are you opposed to taking the airport shuttle bus (10€)between the airport and Sorrento?

If you will already be in Naples train station and need to go to Sorrento, why not take the train? It's simple. You just go downstairs and get on the train. Takes 70 minutes.

I know you are looking for personal experience, but I did read through lots of TA posts today. This guy is recommended often: Johnny Maresca.

Remember that he is recommended for his driving and not his spelling!

LoveItaly-- thanks for the link to Francesco Marrapese; and auldyins and eks, thank you both also - these just what I was looking for.

And kybourbon-- thanks for the link to the Curreri bus. I'm asking not for myself but for others who are meeting me in Sorrento. Some of them haven't travelled in Italy before. Some are flying into Naples, others into Rome. I just want to give them some options for easy travel, if they arrive tired or not feeling adventurous.

I will already be there, having taken the bus to Piazza Municipio, ferry to Procida, spent a few nights on Procida, then 2 days in Naples, and then taken the Circumvesuviana to Sorrento, where I will walk from the train station to my hotel in Marina Grande - where I will hope to meet my group, who will then follow me around Campania and Lazio for 2 weeks looking at gardens and eating beautiful food and drinking beautiful wine, among other things.

Julia that sounds like a superb trip!

Please let us know what you find as far as pricing for NAP-Sorrento; I will use the info myself later this year if the bus times are not convenient.

I got quotes from several sites for an upcoming trip to Sorrento, and the best quote was from Syrenbus/Syrenlimo -- 70 euro from Naples airport to Sorrento hotel in a Mercedes sedan. Most places were quoting around 100 euro, although there were a couple in the 80 range.

We've used Tourofitaly.com for pickup at Naples Airport to our hotel in both Sorrento, and on other trip, to Positano. Highly recommend them!

We spent a day with Giovanni from www.tourofitaly.com and were very pleased. He picked us up in Naples and took us on a tour of the Amalfi Coast, stopping in Amalfi, Sorrento, Ravello, and Positano.

I highly recommend the Marciano family in Sorrento. They have been in the taxi/limousine business for three generations. Their web site is www.scialone.com. E-mail is [email protected].

I have known this family for many years, and have no reservations recommending their services.
