ALICANTE - 1 Day Excursions
Off a cruise in Alicante for 1 day (10am-7pm) in June.
Excursion options offered:
a) GUADALEST
b) MURCIA
c) VILLAJOYOSA & ALTEA
Can anyone recommend which of the above would be the most interesting from a historical/architecture/cultural point of view?... or any other suggestions
thanks

Other place - Benidorm with an interesting culture - famous place with British lager louts all over the place -nice seaside resort otherwise.
Most folks would disdain such a place but I found it rather fun- train from Alicante but just a typical modernish seaside resort. I have visited Murcia and it will fulfill your wish list to a t.Not familiar with others.
You can do all those excursions on your own by bus or train very cheaply-for lots on trains check www.renfe.com; www.seat61.comwww.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

I did this late last year and loved Alicante. Seriously consider not taking an organized excursion and just enjoy the lovely seaside town. You can easily visit the Santa Barbara Castle, (Oh! the views) the Market, do shopping, visit the beach. I did use the Hop On Hop Off which was convenient to the pier.

google guadalest.. breathtaking.. you'll probably get plenty of walking along the beach at other ports.. no? This is perhaps the most different/unique of the three.
We went to a wedding there up at the tiny chapel on the tip of a hill, if I remember correctly.
