I have been using Swiss Cottage Cars for about six years now all with great success. The best part is that while many of the other services seem to keep raising their rates, Swiss Cottage Cars hasn't. Not sure of their rates from Gatwick but they are sure cheaper than the others from Heathrow. One slight drawback is that they don't have a website. You have to call them directly. Have your flight time and information and exact address where you are going and they will give you an instant confirmation and price. 44-207-431-2700. They call and check your flight and do not charge extra if you are late. Nor do they add of for parking, luggage, or any of the other items. It's a one price deal.

to xxx at no spam: it's basically 1 large suitcase per adult plus 1 extra piece of luggage-the carryons are those small carryons with essentials in case the large suitcase gets lost ==

Not really a lot of luggage for a family of five-- it's 4 woman and a man! LOL

However-thanks to everyone so far- you have been super to deal with!

Andy - that is a HUGE amount of luggage. Most people can easily do a 2 or 3 week trip with ONE 21-inch rollaboard suitcase. Why on earth does everyone need a full sized suitcase and a carry on?????? This has been mentioned on all three of your threads (what's up with that?) so you might want to think about it. Cut way back on the amount of "stuff" you are taking.

I don't think it's an unusual amount, that's what most people take on vacation -- one suitcase plus carryon per person. I think people are presuming the suitcase is abnormally large because you used the word "large" in the description, probably just meaning not a small carryon.

What I think is odd is your insistence on all traveling together. There appears to be no reason for this as you name all adults on this trip (although I know there could be a reason you haven't stated as to why some folks cannot be left alone for some disability). If there is not a good reason, why not forget this requirement that you have to travel together. Also, the fact that there are 5 of you doesn't seem to have anything to do with why you can't take rail. If you are all adults, each taking care of their own baggage, why can't you all get on a train?

I guess you'll get a lot of advice to change tactics without answers, since you've posted so much on here about the requirements, that's what happens on internet forums -- so, I'm not telling you not to take so much because that seems normal to me (except for the one extra suitcase you mentioned elsewhere), but really I don't understand your unusual needs that are making this so difficult.
