AAFF, Still a Chance for an Upgrade on AA70 to FRA?

AAFF, what are our chances of getting an upgrade to Biz Class on our Sept. 12 flight from DFW to FRA? When I check the AA website and View Seats, there appears to be only two sets of 2 seats together and a couple of single seats.

Does this website show ALL seats that are still available or are there others that AA might be holding to allocate later? In the past, we have gotten our upgrades about 2 weeks before our departure, which is today. I’m just wondering if there’s still a chance that we might get upgraded this time as well.

The only way I've gotten AA upgrades lately is to shell out 25,000 miles and $250.00 for ONE WAY!

Good luck!

No, we're on the waitlist for the $300/25k mile upgrades -- each way. We only paid $700 for our tickets so with the round trip upgrades, it will still only cost us $1300 each. I don't mind using my miles and $$$ for the extra room and comfort.

We will be on that same flight from Dallas on Sept. 12. I didn't request upgrade on this one because my 2 sons and one son's girlfriend will be traveling with me. See you there.

Seat map on www.aa.com is not a reliable way of predicting the possibility of upgrade. Few reasons:
1. Some passengers don't even care about seat assignments.
2. Cancellations
3. Misconnects

I have never missed an international upgrade on international flights.

Some times I cleared at the time of reservation because there was C inventory available.

When it's not, you get waitlisted and when the revenue dept opens up some more C inventory, the top waitlisted passenger(s) get moved up.

Then there are times when it can happen at the last minute because of misconnections. It happened to me couple of times. Just before the flight was closed out, I and possibly others cleared our upgrades. 1/2 an hour earlier the business class cabin was full on www.aa.com.

I use e-VIPs, but mileage upgrades come from the same inventory.

Don't give up.

Good luck!

btw, flight 70 DFW-FRA on 9/12 shows the following fare availibilty at the moment:

F4 A2 J7 D3 Y7 B7 H5 K3 M2 W2 L1 V1 N1 G0

This one has a pretty good chance of clearing eventually. J and D fares are business class fares and AA is still willing to sell at least 7 full fare business class seats and 3 discounted business class seats. It doesn't mean they are willing to sell 10+ business class seats, but it means that they are willing to sell at least 7 full fares which may cut into the discounted/upgradeable inventory.
