AA Aniversary sale question

remember when AA had their 25 days of deals for their 25th anniversary?

on one of the days, the deal was if you purchased your flights before a certain date (may something) you get double miles for each trip.

i booked four flights on 5/17- one ticket was for my husband, who's also an AAdvantage member. i got double miles for my three flights, but he didn't get his double miles for his.

did anyone here have any trouble getting double miles for that promo? (he's already filed a claim to receive the bonus miles.... so i'm just inquiring amongst you all out of curiosity.)

There were quite a lot of different promotions and the rules were different for each one so it's hard to say which one you are talking about. I do know that there was one that was made available on a random basis to AAdvantage FF members and if you didn't get a special sign-up notice you couldn't get the bonus miles. My spouse got a notice but I didn't and even though I "signed up" (on-line) I never qualified for the bonus miles. I tried calling several times but was always turned down. Funny thing, I fly much more often than my spouse (I've accumulated about 1.5 million miles and have lifetime Gold status -I've actually been Platinum for the past several years) but she received the promotion notice and I didn't.

Hopefully your husband will get his bonus miles but don't be too surprised if he doesn't.

A_T it doesn't sound like AA has to provide incentive for you to fly more on AA.

The 25th Anniversary Double Miles Promotion was NOT a targeted promo, it was available to everybody, but you had to register before you bought the tickets. The tickets had to be purchased between 5/15 and 5/31 and travel between 5/15 and 11/15. The flights have to be on AA, AE or AX metal only, so no codeshares, partners, etc.

I'm cleaning up on the double miles. This one promo will get me ~75K extra miles this year. So far I had no problems with the miles posting as per the promo.

Good luck!

AAFF- that's correct. I just asked my husband if he'd heard back and he said "yes" and that "he would have had to register for the promotion in order to be eligible."

Don't ya hate it when you tell your spouse to do something and he/she doesn't!?!

Oh well. That was 4K extra miles his loss.
