A week in Provence

My husband and I plan to spend one week in the Var region of Provence starting next week, October 10. We will base ourselves in a B&B in Flayosc, not too far from Draguignan. The prime reason is to get some R&R and hopefully some Autumn sunshine after a busy summer.
We would appreciate any suggestions for not-to-be-missed restaurants and out of the way special places to see.
Merci bien for your thoughts or any trip reports you might suggest.

Can't help you here as I am not that familiar with that part of Provence. Friends tell me that Lorgues is nice. There's a famous truffle restaurant there, Chez Bruno.

We too are planning to visit the Var next year in Autumn. We are looking at self catering in the area around Cotignac -Salernes - Villecroze. There look to be lots of appealing villages to visit and of course , we will drive along the Gorges of the Verdon. As we are planning two weeks we will have time to explore the close vicinity and maybe even do a couple of bigger day trips depending on the weather.
Good luck with your research.

Thank you again, Tulips.

Well, maybe I can be of help on this one, rhon, as we will be visiting the area next week. I'll keep my eyes open.

It would help if you would let me know what size of house you are looking for.

Below you'll find the link to a house that was suggested to us. Because it it just the two of us this time we don't need such a large place and have opted for a bed and breakfast.

Websites such as frenchconnections.co.uk as well as home away.co.uk are usually quite useful and reliable.

In our experience it's nice to stay near a small town. It makes life a lot easier to be able to have a bakery en some restaurants nearby. Especially in Autumn the days are shorter and you don't want to roam around on country roads on your way back from dinner.

We have used French Connections on our early trips to France in 2006 and 2008. We are a couple so small suits us. On our last trip ( 2016 ), we used Gites de France exclusively and also for half our Gites in 2014. As we travel for longer than a lot of people , ten weeks last year, we like to keep costs down. We always manage to find suitable Gites within our modest budget in the areas we visit. We really enjoy travelling the way we do..
Happy planning . It is good fun.
