A comfortable bed for three nights in London
Have three nights in London the last week in June (I know its peak season). Just want clean, comfortable place be it a B&B, Hotel, etc to stay in London that isn't too far out and at a reasonable rate.
While pleasant surroundings for accommodation is always a plus, most of the day is spent cramming in as much of the city sights as possible returning to a comfortable bed to crash.
Thought I would tap into travellers experiences first as opposed to sitting for a good part of the day (or two) running through web sites recommmending various accommodation venues in the city.
Any suggestions?

You might use www.hostels.com. You can search on that site for hotels only (so it is just not for hostels but includes budget hotels). You can search by your dates. You can see them on a map. They have reviews. When you have seen a few that you like you can also check them by searching this board or looking at other reviews for example on www.tripadvisor.com.

Priceline is supposed to be very good for London -- like less than £100/night. Read www.betterbidding.com first.

>>That is, less than <B><red>$</B></red>100/night for a 4* hotel.<< - of course that will be plus taxes and fees and only in <i>some</i> PL zones
Jenny62: Can't really help w/o knowing what you consider a 'reasonable rate'. If you want to know which hotel you are getting before paying, then PriceLine isn't a great option, but if you are OK w/ the bidding/paying first process, PL is brilliant for London.

Do you literally mean a "comfortable bed"?
I ask because I've stayed in a couple very reasonably priced/well-located/quite cozy hotels, but I hesitate to suggest them because I would never characterize them as "comfortable beds" (not uncomfortable, just not noticeably comfortable, if that makes sense).
Hyde Park Premier Paddington (near Paddington Station)

Garden Court Hotel (near Kensington Gardens)

We have used www.londontown.com a few times to book hotels in London, they have been professional and reliable. We always paid on arrival at the hotel.
They have a hotel map feature where you can key in your dates and it will show you what's available, where it is situated and how much it costs. If you look for something near a tube station in Central London you can get anywhere you want to go. Bloomsbury is well located, maybe you could start looking there and gradually move a bit further out if necessary.
In our experience in London you don't get much for your money so if you find something cheapish, it could possibly be dreadful. Some of the hotels we stayed at I would never ever go back to (not through LondonTown I have to say).

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and places to search.
I have used Hotwire in the US and never been disappointed so will definitely check out PriceLine which I think is similar.
As to a "comfortable bed": have stayed at B&B's in England and loved cozy beds with crisp linen even if some of the rooms were quite ordinary.
Price wise, I have been amazed at the sites that say "discounted hotel rooms going fast" and when you check them their average nightly rate is something like 350-535 pounds!!
A reasonable price for me would be 125 pounds a night. Good Kay and Laurie_Ann. Will have a look at the websites you both suggest.
Let you know how I go.

You can get the Crowne Plaza London St James for less than 125 pounds, though as JanisJ said there will be d some fees to that. It is listed on Hotwire for $193 (which can vary minute by minute) for last week of june.
Location is right near St James Park and Buck'm Palace. Read the hotel website, and great recent reviews on tripadvisor, and see what you think. On Hotwire, look for 4 star Westminster Hotel with a "spa" icon--that's it. If it were me, Jenny....I'd grab it!!!
Good luck!
