3 days in Rome- Itinerary help please!
My friend and I are spending May 1-3 in Rome (arriving on the night of April 30th and leaving early on May 4th). However, with the holiday on May 1 we are not sure how to arrange our itinerary. We would like to see the Pantheon, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Vatican City (Museum and Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Castel Sant'Angelo) for sure. Thanks!

Castel Sant'Angelo appears to be open May 1 so you could combine that with St. Peter's as they are close together.
The Colosseum is closed, but you could do the outdoor sites you listed (Spanish Steps/Trevi) and perhaps add in other places such as the Pantheon or a few churches.
I would think most state museums are closed.

I would spend a day doing classical Rome, starting early at the Colessum before it opens, then walking through the Forum, ended up at the wonderful Capitaline Museum and Michelangelos stunning Piazza Campidoglio. Then lunch in the Jewish ghetto, nap and shop. The next mroning I would EARLY go to the Spanish stesp, the Pantheon the Trvevi fountain, the Campo dei Fiori and the Patheon and the Piazza Navona, lunch, nap, go to the Vatican as late as possible (I think they may have some evening hours). I don't know how to work around May 1 problem except to check as soon as possible to see what is open.

One thought, Brooklyn - last time I was in Rome, we checked out the beach after visiting Ostia Antica. We found the beach to be pretty uninteresting & wouldn't go back, or make a special trip of it. Ostia Antica, on the other hand, was extremely interesting, and well worth the trip. It could be done with a half day, easy.
Another thing to keep in mind is that places like Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and the Pantheon (except the interior) can be incorporated into your evening strolls.
