? re hotels in 5 terre

Good morning-We are considering 2 hotels in 5 terre for 9/13. Porto Roca in Monterroso and La Torreta in Manarola. Could I have your feedback re the 2 hotels? An anticipatory "thanks".

We loved staying at Porto Roca. It is up the hill from the town center, quiet with no noise from the trains, beautiful unobstructed water views. The outdoor dining offered us some of the best dinners we had in Italy.

I agree---Porta Roca has killer views and is on the primary path to Vernazza.

We loved loved loved the Porto Roca! Funny that we were just looking at pictures from our stay there some years ago.

Our balcony overlooking the Ligurian was great--large, with half of it covered with an awning.

Have a wonderful trip.

Thank you for responding w./ alacrity. Refining my question. What time of year did you go to 5 Terre? And on Trip Advisor there were some very negative posts re Porto Roca and some "heavenly" posts. Like for ex. the morning juice was water, sugar and coloring. Or that Porto Roca had gotten worn out. What should one think? Is it the venue or the posters?

The train noise in the 5 towns can be significant and Porto Roca was quiet. Steps to hiking path to other CT towns. We only had perfect food there. They paid for a taxi to bring us up from parking lot in town.

Byrd - Did you have a Junior Suite or a Standard Room? Also, how many years ago did you go? Thanks.

La Torretta is absolutely beautiful and blissfully quiet. As is the town of Manarola in the morning and evening -- less touristy than Vernazza.

330east.

I just saw your question. Sorry my answer is late in coming!

We were at the Porto Roca at least seven or eight years ago, so I certainly can't promise anything about current conditions there.

I don't remember that our room was called a junior suite, but it was one of the half dozen or so rooms on the top floor. I think our balcony was larger than the ones on the lower levels. amd my husband says he remembers that the balcony was at least as large as the room.

We have been back to the area in the last two or three years, but that time stayed with friends in Santa Marguerita, which was also great fun.

Have a great trip.
