Taxes & Additional Charges?

I'm trying to book our first cruise and have viewed many of the on-line sites. While the price per room seems pretty clear, I see in fine print where taxes & goverment charges can cost an additional $15-$300 per person. How can I determine what these additional charges will be? Since we're looking at a 7 day Carribbean cruise out of Florida, maybe someone can tell me what a realistic expectation for these or other charges might be. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Your port taxes should be included in your ship's fare. This is with the major cruise lines. Some not so good agencys pull people in by advertising the cruise price alone without them then add them to what you owe them. The good reputable companys do not do this. There are federal taxes which will be included when you are given a final price. We're leaving for 7 days Saturday and the federal taxes added to our fare is $65@.
Shop for your cruise. Get prices from TAs and on line companies as well as the cruise line itself. Ask for final price.

You can go to any cruise's website to start reservation, and you will see the full price, all taxes included, before you pay. Or you can do the same on Expedia.

Even then, keep an eye on the cruise's website, even after you've paid the deposit, the price may go down, and if you call them, they will change your invoice to pay less, or if it's past the due date, they will give you "cabin credit"

Keep in mind: there will be additional charge for tips, approx. $10-12 per person per day.

tax is tax. Port charges are dependent on which ports you visit. Each port charges differently. Be careful for on line TA's who charge you administration fees after lure you in with a very low price. I have seen administration fees of $200 per person added. When in doubt, call the cruise line direct and ask for the total.

You need to be careful on this. For example, some sites don't include all taxes and fees until you get to the final booking screen. You might want to try http://www.cruisecompete.com. Here you pick your cruise, and agents compete to offer deals. All prices include all taxes and fees to make it easier to compare.
