Sack Lunches: Royal Caribbean?
I've been on a couple cruises before and think I remember hearing something about being able to request a sort of "sack lunch" from the ship on days when we want to go to a remote beach where there are no restaurants.
Am I just imagining things or is this true?

But nothing comes wrapped to take ashore. Many ports say you can't take food ashore but they don't check what you are taking off the ship - just on. So, take zip lock bags if you're going to do this and a small collapsible cooler.Once my husband got sick - food poisening??-the one time he ate ashore in Belize. Now we don't eat anything off the ship unless we brought it with us. Except ship's barbeques.

Did not know you couldn't take food off the ship. Oh dear! We have done as Bonniejns and used zip lock bags. We ordered room service sandwiches and also got fresh fruit at the morning buffet to take along. Put everything in a collapsible cooler and walked right off the ship in Grenada.
I would be interested to know what ports prohibit it.

I remember several discussions about taking food ashore, but the only thread I was able to find is this one:

And I was told, some cruises do offer box lunches if you buy a tour from them.

Yes Faina that is right about the box lunches. On longer shore excursions we have been given a box lunch if we were going to be away from the ship for most of the day. That has been the case many times but it still may depend on the country the ship is visiting. I can't remember exactly where we did that but I know one was a tour out of Cozumel.
