Caribbean and European cruise

We are mature age couple from Australia, looking at doing a cruise from Miami to Southampton, 40 nights on the Royal Caribbean ship Adventure of the seas, leaving mid April.2014. If someone has sailed on this ship recently we would love your comments regarding cabins food and entertainment. we a not new to cruises but have not been to this side of the world.
Other shipping line would be Costa or Norwegian, looking forward to your replies

I hear good things about Royal Carribbean but have not been on one of their ships. Have you had a look on www.cruisecritic.com?

We do have very positive personal experiences with Cunard and Celebrity, you might check their schedules as well.

We had 1 trip on Royal Caribbean and several on Holland American and Celebrity. We liked them better than RCI. RCI seemed more like a party boat. Personally would not consider Costa or Norwegian - even before the Costa disasters.

Thank you Cathinjoetown and Reme for your replies they are most helpful. regarding cabins have you or anyone chosen a promenade state room?
Ports of call include Philipsburg, San Juan Puerto Rico, Labadee Halti Miami Bahamas Ponta Delgada Azores any suggestions of tours.
Weather wise what would we expect during mid April, last question read where Adventure of the seas was having a revamp 2014 is this so?

Cheers

We have not had a promenade cabin, but we did have one under the promenade deck - I think it was called the tween deck. It drove us crazy as joggers were running over our heads at all hours making much noise. Calls to the purser asking enforcement of off hours were fruitless. Also rooms on the promenade deck tend to have at least partially obstructed views. We have had balconies our last few cruises and would not cruise without one.

studley I would choose RCI over the other two but again we much prefer Holland America, Celebrity or Princess. The one piece of advice that I would give you is to book your cabin on a lower deck midship in case of rough seas it will be much more stable there. Looking at the deckplan for that ship I would choose deck 6 or 7. You have cabins above you so you won't run into the problem reme had with noise from joggers or deck chairs being dragged above you.
