Where is Uncle Joe's BBQ?
I'll be in St. John with my family in June, and I've seen many references on this forum to Uncle Joe's BBQ. I really like barbeque, but never thought of the caribbean as place to find it. Could you tell me where this place is? And what other wonderful and quirky dining experiences could I find in St. John?

It is right in downtown Cruz Bay. If you are on the ferry dock facing town, turn to your left. It is very short walking distance on the left hand side. It is a little yellow building with a blue door and a silver grill. There is no sign. You can almost follow your nose and find it. There is a small visitor information stand next to it. If you get to The LumberYard, you went too far.

Smetz, stay on Centerline road until you have to make a right, just after Woodys Bar, go about 100 yards and then you either go straight toward Mongoose Junction or turn right to go to the ferry dock. While at this crossroads look to your left, say 11:00 on the clock, and there it is. Following your nose works just as well.
Enjoy it's really good.

I had to search the archives for this. Scroll down to August 24th and do "The Cruz Bay Cruise". They will point out where some of the highlights are. You will also see why it is kind of hard to give directions the way the streets loop. They point out Uncle Joe's during the cruise. Oh, and they have gotten a lot better with the camera since this early feature. It is now mounted on the jeep and not nearly as bumpy as the early days.

I love that website too. If you look around a bit, there are also Jeep Cams of The North Shore Road and some of Coral Bay. There are recent ones heading to Salt Pond and back to Skinny Legs. Things change so quickly on STJ, even in the couple of years that we have been going.

Pulley, thank goodness! I like Subway at home, but not in St. John. Next thing you know there will be a Gap and Pottery Barn. Let's hope not!!
