I really liked the sand quality at Cancun. Haven't been to other places with comparable sand. We don't drive, so we plan to relax by the beach and walk to restaurants or cab everywhere. It seems that Turks/Caicos is more pricey. Checked Expedia and it gave out budget of over $10,000. I'd really appreciate any website/travel agency vacation pkg for this december. Thank you!

First, what a huge Subject line.

Not sure how you priced a package for over $10k in TCI for 2 adults and a child. What kind of resorts are you looking for.

Airfare should be around $700 p/p and a hotel for $200-$300 p/night. That comes to $4200-$5100 (7/10 nights); ballpark. Of course, need to add in food and excursions...which does not seem like you may be doing. Even if you decide to do 1 - that will be a couple hundred for the 3 of you.

Food, my guess a 2-year old does not eat alot, so a couple of hundred per day. My rough estmate is 7-nights could be around $5800 and 10 nights $6400. This is at a hotel that is $300 p/night plus the higher airfare, you may be able to find a special.

If you were looking at Beaches in TCI; well that might just run up close to the $10k you mentioned...but even then I am still thinking now.

A condo option in TCI or another place could save you money too, because you could eat light breakfast and lunches in your room.

Not sure if it matters what day of the week you fly for cheepar air?

Airfare generally is cheaper anywhere on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's.

Tues or Wed are always cheaper to fly. I suggest Aruba. If you stay at the Hyatt or Radisson, you can walk to different restaurants or cab it. We stayed at the marriott and it was great, but a little farther away. We did not have a car. We took cabs everywhere. All three of these hotels have nice pools with nice white sandy beaches. I am sure there are deals to be had on Aruba. There is always a deal out there. Check into it.

I also recommend Aruba. Beautiful beaches and non-stop flight from NYC. Go to www.travelunlimited.com and check out their specials. Yes, as stated above cheaper to fly mid-week to mid-week.

ok- December-... there is the holliday season or there is the first couple of weeks in December.
It makes a world of difference for price.

From Boston we have a couple of places that put together good packages (TNT & GWV). I'm sure you have something similar from NYC. Sat to Sat kind of thing on chartered direct flight.

SOME place the kid stays free...

I was in Turks & Caicos last month and we stayed at Beaches. I would say the resort is more geared towards children. Beautiful soft white sand beach with many restaurants (great food) and a whole section of the resort is designed for children (water park and sesame street).

I love Aruba and I would tell anyone to go there. Only thing I want to warn you about is that the flight is about 4 hours long from NYC. Being that you will be traveling with a 2 year old, you might want to take that into account. I just came back from Turks & Caicos and it was very nice. It is only a 3 hour flight. If you feel your child will be ok for 4 hours on a plane, go to Aruba. Palm Beach in Aruba was named best family beach by the Travel Channel recently and they specifically mentioned the Hyatt.

Check out the Westin in St. John. The island couldn't be more beautiful with many soft sandy beaches, and the Westin has a great array of kids facilities and activities. You could rent a condo which would be cheaper, but the Westin quite often has great deals which include airfare, etc.
