Turks and Caicos Weather in February
Hi - I need candid feedback on what the weather is like in the Turks and Caicos in February. I've been in Bahamas about 300 miles north or so - and it can be on the chilly side that time of year......is it swimming weather?

This February we were in Hopetown. I went into denial prior to the trip and attributed most of the comments about the weather to soft Southerners.
This year was a bad year - temps around low 70s by night and as low as low 60s at night. The sea temperatures plummeted and although we had a great time it just wasn't what we were looking for. The previous May we had 88 day and night and bath warm sea - perfect.
I tracked the temperatures around and about to see if we could have done better. The Exumas were around the Mid 70s, T&C slightly higher. The BA flight back to London had started its journey in The Caymans - those travellers said the temperatures there were not much better.
It would seem that the whole of the Eastern seaboard and the Caribbean had a bad winter. If you are looking for guaranteed mid 80s and warm sea I would head further south.

We have been in Feb. many times--love it , swam in the ocean and unheated pools--no problem, 80 ish, nights cooler but not a problem, good sleeping and no a/c needed. Beautiful and X-mas/New Years crowds are gone..love it !

iT IS HIT OR MISS IF YOU LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURE CHARTS OF THE PAST 10 YEARS. iT IS ONLY ABOUT 400 MILES SOUTH OFMIAMI AND A FEB, DAY THERE CAN BE 82 OR 65 AS A HIGH. THE GLOBAL WARMING AGGECT HAS MADE THE PREDICTABIBILITY THE PAST 2 YEARS AND GOING FORWARD SOMEWHAT OF A ' CRAP SHHOT' SORRY TO SAY.

Which was my point stankase and it is a good point. There are bankers in life - Spain in July NEVER below 85oC, Greece in August NEVER below 90oC.
When you are sinking £6000 plus into a beach holiday, you need to be sure of the weather. At latitudes as far north as this in February you cannot be sure.
April/May makes all the difference.

air temp can vary - it's the ocean temp that matters to me & it's at it's lowest that time of year.
provo is my favorite island but i'd look for someplace further south for a feb vacation.
if you tell us what you're looking for in a vacation maybe we can make some useful suggestions...

Every February my Mom and 3 sisters go to the Caribbean - we've been to St. Maarten a number of times - we've been on cruises.....I was in Turks in April and just loved it - and I think my family would too - but we live in Michigan - so we surely want (need) warmth by then! Some of us are sick of cruises....we've rented villas - love that! Just thinking of taking them someplace new!

This February was totally different. I think it is simply down to the gamble. However, I would say that the lows that pass through in February seem to dump all their moisture on the State. When passing through The Bahamas/Northern Caribbean they brought wind and colder temperatures. we saw nothing but clear blue skies and no rain. we did see hot rain in May!
On the plus side, anything is better than a northern winter!

Anguilla is similar to T&C in terms of beaches. It is even more quiet and laid back and had amazing restaurants. Have you ever been while on St. Martin?
Another option would be St. John. Very picturesque island with many villas to choose from.

most of the good villa rental companies list on barbados - wimco, islandhideaways, villascaribe, villasofdistinction, plus a few barbados based companies. many houses are listed by more than one of the companies, occasionally there is a small price difference.
no specific suggestions as i don't know how many bedrooms you want, or if pool is important or price range - but you do want to see the word 'beachfront' not oceanfront or beach/ocean view in the description.
great beaches to find a villa on would be gibbs, paynes or mullins.

We went to Provo this Feb for 15 days, we were lucky to be there for 15 days, didnt rain even once, sunny skies & 80 degree weather daily.It was gorgeous.A week earlier the weather had been mucky so cant say but we went the second half of Feb & it was bubbling with activity.People werent so concerned about the weather as I was before I went, but it was beautiful.
