Too hot in late June/early July?
We're looking to go somewhere in the Caribbean for our honeymoon and need advice on both islands and weather. We're getting married June 19th and thinking of leaving on the 23rd of so.
Anyone have experience with any of the islands during that time? Or any advice on which one would be good for two pale, neurotic and in-need-of-destressing New Yorkers? Thank you so very much, Carrie

There's not a large difference between the winter and summer temps in the Caribbean. It will be slightly more humid and temps will likely be in the high 80s, but the constant breeze makes it very pleasant. It will be much more comfortable than NYC in the summer! If you're at all concerned, just make sure that you book a room that has air conditioning available.
As for recommending an island or hotel, you'll need to give us more specifis. Are you foodies or would buffet meals be okay? Do you want lots of activities available? A spa? Casino? Shopping? Lush interior? Long, white sand beaches? (Keep in mind that long, white sand beaches and a lush interior are usually mutually exclusive) Lots of privacy? High rise hotel with all the ameneties or intimate properties where romance is premium? Sky's the limit? On a budget? Just let us know.
Congrats on your honeymoon. With more info we'll give you lots of choices for a perfect honeymoon.

Thank you so much for your reply! Our top priorities would be a luxury-type place (with a/c), tennis courts, spa, pretty beaches (don't care as much about it being secluded), shopping would be nice & food is important. Don't care about casino. Let me know what you think, and thanks again.

I would recommend Anguilla as a possibility for you. It's got per capita probably the most good restaurants in the Caribbean, in all ranges of price. Cap Juluca, Malliouhana, and Cuisinart are probably the top 3 hotels, and a search for any of their names in this forum will yield more information than you could possibly sift through. Another possibility on Anguilla would be the villa enclave called Cove Castles. You wouldn't have a spa there on site but you could certainly arrange for spa services. Anguilla's beaches are fabulous, the shopping less so, but you're just a short jaunt away from the shops on St. Maarten if you'd like to make a day trip.

ST.BARTS!!! But, why are you planning so late??? MUCH prettier than perfectly flat Anquilla. Spectacular views abound, sexy, pristine beaches, and by far the Caribbean's best cusine. More like the S. of France than the rest of the Islands. Best stay is in a private villa (though the many of the nice ones are gone by now) or one of the fine hotels.
June is a great time, the ocean is calmer than in winter and a little less breeze, nice to be up a little higher on the hillside off the beach at that time.
