st. lucia or similar lush island

I am visiting Port Antonio Jamaica with my husband and 2 kids in a month , we are planning a second trip to another island for just the 2 of us . He won 2 tickets on an airline to anywhere they fly in the caribbean . Yeah ! So far I love the look of St Lucia and the Stonefield Estate Villas , the small Chalon Cottage is a bargain in off season . The beach we will visit most is the Jalhousie Hilton . I love lots of lush tropical foilage , beautiful vistas etc. Are there any other islands out there with perhaps the more typically pristine beaches ... Caribbean islands of course . Would love some input fellow travellers ! Thank You ,Faith .

Hi Faith,

Don't give up on St.Lucia!!! It is an incredibly beautiful island. I am most intrigued by the southern part between the Pitons. It is so untouched by our western culture. It is so refreashing to be a part of this place. The whole beach thing in St.Lucia is all relitive to what you have seen and were you have been. I am a beach person and am so glad that I didn't let the beach reviews of St.Lucia put me off from seeing this beautiful island with it's breathtaking beaches. Yes, they are different from your dime a dozen white sand beaches in the carribean. They are a bit more exotic, and small and lush and.........but the water in the southwestern part of the island's crystal clear. Breathtakeing in it's own way, with the deap cobalt blue water. The Jalousie Hilton beach shows off this water in my oppinion the best, since they imported the white sand to stand against this incredible water.

To see the Piton Mountains rising up from the ocean at the Jalousie Hilton beach is a once in a life time experience. Don't miss this! There are white sand beaches all over the world there are only one set of Piton Mountains!

Ladera and the Jalousie Hilton are my favorite places in St.Lucia because of the location between the Pitons. I did not see Stonefield, but have heard nothing but great reviews. If the price is right there. Go for it! the view of the Piton would be wonderful there. Similar to Ladera. The beach at the Jalousie is wonderful. Swiming and watersports, etc.
Can't think of a better place to discover with your winnings. Good luck to you.
Donna

Thanx Donna , Sounds exactly what we are looking for ; I believe I would rather incredible topography and vistas and good beaches , over amazing beaches and so so scenery . Stonefield appears to have all the basic charms of Ladera without the pricetag . Martinique was another island that interests us as well as St.Kitts , although St.Lucia seems to be in the lead . Thank You Faith P.S Do you know these islands ...

Hi willem,
St. Lucia is my favorite island...to get a sense also check out Anse Chastanet who have a website of the same name...you can see good views of the island and read about the art, food, activities, etc.
The views are incredible, have fun !

If you want to visit Martinique, you can take a day trip from St. Lucia! they are only 20-30 miles apart.

Willem,
If you are flying Air Jamaica, they have an island hopping option. You can look into that. Some other islands you can go to include St. Lucia, Grenada, T&C, etc.
