Spice Island or La Source??
I am creating our travel plans for the first week of March 2004. We would like to stay 4 nights at La Luna and 4 nights at either La Source or Spice Island. We are 31 & 35 years old and enjoy great beaches, fine food, some sports and beatiful surroundings. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is March a good time to go weather and water temp wise?

Tim,
I can't speak to Spice Island, but we stayed at La Source for 3 nights in April 03. We enjoyed it very much and fit the same demographic and interests as you.
The only problem with La Source was dinner (lunch and breakfast were fine) - during our stay only the a la carte restaurant was open and we didn't find it good (at all).
We spent the first 3 nights at Grand beach and were able to enjoy 3 of Grenada's good restaurants which may have clouded our opinion. It seems you will be able to do the same with your stay at La Luna.
Therefore, I would recommend La Source - the rooms are nice, the activities plentiful (if you choose to participate) and the resort itself very relaxing. If you weren't staying at another resort that wasn't AI, I would encourage you to either stay elsewhere or have dinner a couple of nights outside of La Source to experience a bit of Grenada and its restaurants.
As Grenada is so far south, I would think the weather and water temps should be fine.

My wife and I spent two weeks in Grenada this past Feb/March. The weather was perfect. For great help in planning a holiday to Grenada I would suggest going to grenadaexplorer.com. There are some very helpful people at this site as well as a myriad of already answered questions you can peruse.

Thanks everyone! Other threads have suggested grenadaexplorer.com, but I was disappointed that they didn't include La Luna or La Source under their hotels section. It leads me to wonder how up to date the site is and what other information are they missing.

Hmmm..well I go into this the Grenada site just about everyday and people are continually posting trip reports, hotel updates, etc. I am sure I recently read a number of posts regarding LaLuna and La Source. There are at least 3 'experts' on this site, one who owns the site and lives there (Mieka/Monja) as well as 2 individuals to have travelled their extensively for a number of years(Sandcrab and Anse)and always provide up to date information.

Tim,
Grenada Explorer is a good source of info regarding Grenada. You are correct in the fact that info on some of the hotels is lacking.
The 'experts' tend to stay at other places more moderately priced (in my experience) and are not fans of AI (because of the good restaurants). The info and advice tends to the overly positive in my opinion - Grenada it a great place, but it's not perfect.
I posted a review of my trip that was overall very positive, but did describe bad service we received at the Grand Beach. One of 'experts' inferred that we received this service because we treated the staff as staff and weren't friendly. Ridiculous comment especially considering I worked in the travel industry for seven years. It annoyed me enough not to go back to that site.
I would seek their advice, but temper it with your own research and opinions sought elsewhere.
I don't think you'll go wrong with any of your choices and will definitely enjoy Grenada! Good luck
