They are both great resorts. I give the edge to Secrets because it is adults only.

Thanks for the feedback. The only negative thing I heard is that Secrets is very far from the airport. Do you believe that should be a deciding factor?

Yes Secrets is probably an hour-plus drive from the airport. Whether that's a deciding factor depends on your tolerance for long bus trips on bumpy roads ... I'd also throw in that you should consider how long it takes you to get to Punta Cana and how early you have to leave. Also, are you planning to take any excursions from the resort? You can add an hour onto all your travel to and from the hotel for those as well. But many people go to Secrets and love it, so don't let the bus trip dissuade you. There are several other good, upscale AIs in Punta Cana if you want to extend your search.

We loved Secrets. We booked through Apple Vacations and they provided a nice big comfortable bus. Our Apple representative gave us all the information about the resort during the ride so it really didn't seem that long. I'm a nut about getting to the airport early so we got a taxi to take us back to the airport. Now that was an interesting ride!!!

I strongly recommend Secrets through Apple as well. Long trip to resort, but worth the wait.

I did hear, however, that they may be under new management soon? Anyone?

Secrets was just excellent in pretty much every way for my wife and I

They are under new management, but the same ownership. They are now called Excellence and are no longer part of the "Secrets" chain. They are still adults only and the owners say they will retain the same excellent level of service.

I've never been to Secrets so i can't comment but we have been to Paradisus Punta Cana three times with our 4th booked for April. Always booking Royal Service. The resort is about 20 minutes from the airport ($25 cab if you don't want to wait for the bus). Walking distance to the Bavaro mall although we go to the beach vendors instead. It is family but we hardly ever nothice the kids. They have a Kids Club which seems to keep all the kinds corraled all day. We love to travel to amny locations but keep returning the Paradisus since we haven't been able to find anyone who can match the quality for the dollar value.

Secrets is very beautiful, newer resorts and many happy return guests. The Secrets Excellence Resorts have separated and will be operated independently, starting in 2007. Other Secrets Resorts will remain as part of the Secrets company, along with sister properties at Dreams and Sunscape. Secrets are excellent for honeymoons and romantic getaways and Dreams are upscale family-friendly. Sunscape Resorts are moderate and family-friendly. Dreams and Sunscape Resorts welcome children and families, but also have plenty of activities and amenities for adults, friends, and other guests that don't fall under the definition of a couple.

Best Regards,
Julia
