Negril honeymoon where to stay

Looking for all inclusive beachfront for honeymoon in May. Looking at Negril and Port Antonio area for best beach and best local scenery and flavor. Any suggestions? Adult only. Looking at sandals, couples and breezes so far. Open to suggestions.

In Negril, I would go with Couples Negril. The are remodeling an older hotel into a Couples Resort in Barbados, but I don't think it will be open until later in the fall. I saw some fabulous deals on-line, but as with new hotel openings you have to waive some of the higher expectations until they get all the kinks worked out. Hence, the fab deals.

We stayed at the Jewell Dunn's River resort in Ocho Rios in December, 2011 and it was one of the best AI resorts we have been to. We've been to 16 AI's resorts in various locations. Mainly Mexico. There are more things to see and do around the Ocho Rios area. However, tour options in either location are good. Stick with the hotel's sponsored tours or hire a driver to keep the overly aggressive vendors at bay.

Sandals Whitehouse gets good reviews, but it is very isolated. About an hour outside of Negril. You'll need a driver, cab or tour to do anything off the property.

IMPO, the Iberostar and Secrets resorts are really the better adult only AI's in Jamaica. The problem is Montego Bay is not that great of an area compared to Negril and Ocho Rios.

If you really want a Sandals resort, I would go with the Emerald Bay in Exuma. We have stayed at the Sandals in Nassau and it was much better than the ones in St. Lucia. I never partically cared for the Breezes chain. Seemed a little too partish for our taste.

Good advice above. Not an AI, but you could also look at IDLE AWHILE, which is associated with Swept Away in Negril. Gorgeous boutique hotel, very few families unless you go on vacation breaks. Excellent section of the famous beach, and close to many restaurants/bars.

However... note of warning here... May, especially the end of May, can be quite rainy in Jamaica. Please check the stats before you book!

In addition, depending on where you are flying from and what catagory room you choose, your $3,000 to $4,000 budget listed in your other thread will not go very far with those chain hotels. The expection is the Jewell Dunn's River. We got 6 nights for $2,100 in low season; the first week of December,

Check some on-line booking sites to see how far your budget will go. That will probably help with your decision.

I don't know anything about All-Inclusives but I really like Negril.

Have stayed at Couples Swept Away in Negril 7 times now and love it. We've been to Caribbean about 30+ times so it's not like we just go to one place but we find it very special
