Need Barbados Hotel

Looking for a hotel in Barbados, prefer Christchurch area Looking for a nice room, a great pool and ocean access/view. Only need for 2 nights before a cruise, after new years. Your recommendations??? We don't use all the services of a big resort, prefer a smaller property. Want to stay under 400per night. would do an all inclusive but not our preference since we llike to try restaurants and don't eat that much.. We're in our late 50's.

I would recommend Southern Palms Beach Club. It's very reasonable price-wise and within walking distance of many restaurants. And, IMHO, on the nicest beach!

Peace, Greenie

Hello,

I have visited Barbados several times and stayed in many Hotels. I am about the same age as you are and I would highly reccomend The Crane although it is in St. Philip. Not only did I have the opportunity to meet one of the head contractors, and met his family, ate with them, and lived with them on one visit. The Crane has beautiful rooms in your price range. This is a larger resort but it is so romantic, cozy, and very comfortable and affordable.

Another motel I absolutely enjoyed was the Savannah in Christ Church. It is not expensive, but I received EXCELLENT service my entire stay there. The food was great also.

Another motel I enjoyed was Divi-Southwinds in Christ Church. This motel is also under 400.00 per night with great service.

I did not go with an all enclusive as I enjoyed the island cooking so much. Don't forget to have some "flying fish, macoroni pie and some Maubry".

Please email me if you have any more questions about Barbados. I love this island more than any other I have visited. The water is healing, the atmosphere is therapuetic, and I always leave feeling refreshed.

Hope this helps!

I would also vote for The Crane. We stayed there two nights just prior to a cruise and loved it.

We stayed in the historic hotel building vs the new condo's. For two night the hotel is perfect.

The Zen was a great place to eat if a little expensive. You are sort of stuck since there isn't much if anything to walk to. But then again if you are only there for two nights there is really no reason to leave.

I have been told that side of the island is where the locals go on vacation and the winds on that side keep the bugs to a min.

Our room was on the first floor and a corner so we had a great cross breeze so no need for AC. I don't recall the exact room number but if you look on Trip Advisor you might be able to find my review from March 2006 where I list the room number. I would try to get that same room as the location is awesome.

Second Southern Palms - great beach, walk to restaurants, etc. Crane is nice with lovely beach if you can navigate the extremely long and high staircase, however, sea can be rough especially at that time of year.

We stayed at the Tamarind Cove last fall and really liked it. My husband said that he thinks it's in the St James Parish area. I don't know how close that is to Christchurch. Tamarind Cove is a relatively small hotel and you can do AI if you want. Our travel agent was able to get us a deal for breakfast only because that's our preference. I thought that the taxi rides were rather expensive in comparison to other places that we've visited.
