Looking for all inclusive in Antigua

We are looking for a nice all inclusive resort in Antigua.....adults only and romantic. We love kids but if we wanted to be with them we would bring our own! The one requirement is that it must have a great beach. Any suggestions?

Haven't been there, but you should do a search here under Sandals Antigua. I am planning my wedding/honeymoon, and several people here recommended it to me when I was considering Antigua.

Jumby Bay is the nicest AI for Antigua, then probably Curtain Bluff. Cocobay is a newish AI on the island. Never stayed there, but the facilities look nice. All of the rooms are on a hillside and are individual cottages. There's also a small spa and nice infinity-edge pool.
I think the Antigua Sandals is highly overrated. It's certainly on a nice stretch of beach, but it my opinion it's the only thing going for it. I think that Sandals may be the only Adults-Only resort.

Blue Waters is not adults-only and not an AI per se, but the clientele is almost strictly adult during school year months and they do offer an AI plan.

Check out Galley Bay- it is adults only and more upscale than Sandals and usually not as expensive as Jumby Bay or Curtain Bluff. You can find out more info at www.eliteislandresorts.com

We honeymooned at Sandals Antigua last year and really enjoyed it. I found a lot more going for it than just a great beach (although the beach was the best part!).

The gardens were very lush and tropical, the beach was great, there was a good selection of food, drinks were good and plentiful, service was also good. We really enjoyed having the watersports equipment available to use at all times. The resort also had a real laid back/romantic feel to it.

I would not pay full price to stay here. We received a 35% discount and found it well worth it. Keep in mind, the food was never spectacular and neither was the service. Good, but not spectacular. If you are looking for a place to relax, spend sometime with your sweetie, and enjoy nightly entertainment along with everything else at your fingertips, then it's great.

If I had the money, I would choose Jumby Bay over any other place in Antigua. I have read several bad reviews on Galley Bay recently. Mostly that the beach is on the bad sad mostly due to the water being so murky and rough. You may check into that. Enjoy Antigua!

When we traveled there, we stayed at Sandals. Our requirements were like yours. We wanted adults only, some romance and a great beach AND pool. It's a beautiful property. We loved the bartenders and the rest of the staff. They offer many discounts now, so it's not all that expensive. Although they say the dress code is casually elegant, it's pretty informal. The nightlife was good. They arrange tours and transportation for you. I strongly advise that you do get out and enjoy the island as it's worth seeing.

We visited Galley Bay for New Years'03(other recent trips include Casa de Campo, DR-Orchid Mana Lani, Big Island)It is a small, intimate resort-bestpart was the hut/villa-2 rooms-connected by a thatched roof-in the center was a patio w/lounge chairs-one room had the king bed-ceiling fans/ac etc-the other was a bathroom/dressing area-privacy -but only 2min walk away-best parts: room, private dining areas overlooking ocean, food was excellent-we still talk about the duck breast on the menu-service, few #'s of am tourists-most were from Eur-worst parts: unswimmable beach-very rough-time of year? not sure-I would recc 100% this resort if you are not a huge swimmer & if you would be thrilled that you do not have to endure hours of listening to YMCA or Grease Soundtracks blaring from the radio-this is a very very laid back place -cheers.

Antigua is close enough to the equatr that the weather is pretty much the same all year round. I would avoid August-October since this is hurricane season.

Which resort is the package at? I hope not the Royal Antiguan...

To compare similar accommodations between Jumby Bay and Sandals Antigua.....Jumby Bay actually has the better price (and better everything else!) $650.00 per night in a Rondaval at Jumby and $682.50 on a Beachfront Rondaval at Sandals - and that's with the 35% discount, which is joke to begin with.

There are less expensive rooms at Sandals Antigua, but Jumby does not have rooms like that so the pricing had to be similar accommodations.

Just to let you know....Sandals is absolutely no bargain!

We stayed at Galley Bay (AI- no children) the last week of June 2000 (little more than 3 years ago). It was truly amazing. The water was clear, clear, clear and light blue & turquiose. I shot 27 rolls of film that week- my hooby is photography- and the water is different every day- but never rough while I was there - we swam in it for a few hours each day. I also took underwater picutres and the water is turquoise blue and clear in those photos. The sand was as soft as powder and light golden.
