First Trip to T&C - accommodation advice needed!

We are a mixed aged family group of 8 adults and 2 children (12 months & 2.5 yrs through 90 years (in wheelchair)) traveling to T&C in April. We are looking for a simple beach vacation for all. The biggest question is where to stay? Hotel or beach villa? TRying to keep in a budget too - any recommendations would be greatly received.

Thanks,
Lara

P.S. The group is traveling form different places; Boston, MA, Manchester, England and Edinburgh, Scotland.

The hotels here are very expensive. Two are all inclusive, Beaches and Club Med...Beaches would the best for your family the food is great and the activities amazing. But would cost a lot for you all.
Your best option would be to rent a villa on the beach and you would definatley need a car rental to get around. Grace Bay is very chic so look closer the Turtle Cove area would be cheaper.
We just moved here from Canada and I am looking for options for family that can not all fit into our place.
Hope this helps.

I've stayed in numerous places there. But to make a rec, ballpark "in budget" to open ended. With a little bit of an idea I could further help-including wheelchair friendly places.

The Tuscany (www.thetuscanyresort.com) on Grace Bay Beach is a nice option for large groups because of their 3BR villa design. Not certain of your budget, but you may want to check it out.

In late June/Early July we stayed in a 3bdrm in The Regent Grand. It was perfect. Could walk to several places. I booked through VBRO and the owners could not have been more plesant to deal with.

if you are looking for something elegant - and at the moment, very reasonably priced, check out the west bay club. gorgeous ocean view suites, marble foors, bathrobes, the grounds aren't all spread out, small spa, gym, and it has a restaurant on the property for b, l & d. Really a beautiful spot. Has water toys too... my husband and i have been there a few times already. worth every penny, esp. now when the prices are a steal...

West bay Club is not the best location
Check out The Somerset
www.thesomerset.com
can walk to many dining options, more central and nicer than WBC

No reason to start a war! WBC and The Somerset are excellent properties.

Both are quiet and luxurious.

Actually the wedding planner of The Somerset became an assistant manager at WBC, they are both excellent resorts, and both have Fodor's choice stars in the guidebooks.

I have stayed at both numerous times, and would do so again. I have also stayed at plenty of properties on the Miami strip, and can tell everyone without a doubt, The Somerset is nothing like that. Not even close.

No secret here, Somerset is one of my favorite resorts in the world, and dollar for dollar I get more than my monies worth! (and I've been around the world!) Somerset is amazing!

Both are running amazing specials, either would make a terrific vacation.

you are right blamona, somerset is beautiful - i did not mean it was like a miami strip - but that it is in a spot of the beach where it is one hotel after another, after another and so on - like the miami strip... Caribzack has some bad vibe about West Bay Club - and you can't compare as far as cost, that's all.

My " bad vibe" about West Bay Club is that we ate there at Atlantic and the fish was dry and over cooked ( both dinners) The resort sits way to close to the road and we heard traffic the whole time. As we left there was a large gang near the road that made my wife uneasy...I just happen to think walking from The Somerset to some of the best dining is important to many. Sorry to offend! I just happen to agree with Blamona -Somerset is one of my favorites in the world as well, we have been almost everywhere too.

You might check out vrbo.com if you're interested in seeing villas that are available. If you look on the right-hand side of the Turks and Caicos page, you'll see a small icon with a wheelchair on it that indicates the villas that are handicapped accessible.
