First trip out of US
My wife and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the honeymoon we never really got to take. On advice from some friends we have booked a trip to Montego Bay specifically Sandals Inn. We were wondering if anyone could really tell us about the Inn...only there Sunday through Thursday and curious about must see/do things...also my wife is interested in shopping and everyone says to not go alone...any suggestions on accompanied trips? Give us the scoop!

If this is your very first trip outside of the U.S., I would recommend you stay at one of the larger Sandals resorts in Montego Bay, where you will have access to a more tranquil beachfront and more resort-style amenities. Sandals Inn is right in the heart of Montego Bay, and while I think the area has improved over the past couple of years, it can still be sensory overload to have to walk around MoBay as tourists, and I don't want you to get a negative feeling about Jamaica. It's a wonderful place, with warm friendly people, even though MoBay itself can be a bit overwhelming. For a first-time traveler, it's better to see the town on a day excursion (or a night excursion ... there are a lot of good places to go out in MoBay at night).

i agree with the above post. another thing you might consider is to SKIP Montego Bay and head to Negril (or some other place in JA). I have always found in my travels that it is much better to get away from the town where everyone flies into. Negril is around 70 minutes south and they have some really nice hotels and the beach is absolutely beautiful! good luck whatever you choose!

Thanks for the posts and the advice...we have already paid so I guess we will have to make the best of things...any further advice on how to make things more enjoyable would be appreciated...wish I had found this site BEFORE we made our travel plans! We do have access to the other sandals resorts but not sure how close they are and how we will get to them...

I would ask if you could switch to the MoBay property. We were there on our first trip out of the US and enjoyed it. We adopted a new mother cat during our stay there. Her kittens were right outside of our room and she came and had breakfast with us every morning. Great wait staff, bartenders and wonderful food.
