Are all the Junior Suites at Cap Juluca the same? Are the upstairs better than the ground floor for bugs, noise and views? Also is there a Jr. Ste with a private rooftop? I know from reading all the posts about CJ that all the rooms are great, just wanted to know which to request up or downstairs. Thanks

Hi Jamie. My husband and I were in a junior suite on the second floor. Villa 1 Room V. And then on a separate trip with my parents, they were in a ground floor junior suite. After having been in both, I definitely prefer the 2nd floor variety. The one my husband and I shared had the private rooftop accessible via a dome-enclosed spiral staircase on the side of the balcony. We loved the view and the privacy. And the air circulation. Our bathroom had a double tub which overlooked the beach (we could see through the palm fronds outside the window, which added privacy), a huge marble shower (we called it the shower cave), etc. The 1st floor junior suites offer the convenience of walking right out to the beach, but the vegetation makes the bug problem more of an issue, and plus it blocks the view. The 1st floor jr. suites have a glass shower that has a door on the other side that leads out to an enclosed white tiled "room" that isn't a room since there is no roof. You can sun in the buff out there, but we liked the open roof top of the 2nd floor suites better. I think the picture of the bathroom on the cap juluca site is the 1st floor junior suite. I'll have to check.<BR><BR>What a rambling mess. Anyway, hope this helps.

Yes, the web site shows a picture of the ground floor junior suite bathroom. I forgot to mention that those also have the double tubs, but as you can see they border that outer walled sun area just like the shower.

November (hoping for great weather, very slow hurricane season) - Can't wait, this is our first trip to Anguilla!! Most likely our last trip to the Caribbean for a while. Its time to start exploring other corners of the world. The Caribbean is so easy and so beautiful that you forget about all the other great places to explore!! I think our next trip will be to Bora Bora in the Spring (We love the Beach!)<BR>thanks soooo much

Hi-<BR>We spent a week at Cap Juluca recently in a Luxury Room on the second floor. We were even offered to move and be upgraded twice - once to a Jr Suite on second floor and one on the first. We loved our luxury room so much that we decided to stay. I agree the first floor rooms were so much darker and the vegetation sometime blocked part of the view. The Jr Suite upstairs still didn't have the exact set up that we liked. The bathroom was actually smaller. I know you will be happy with any room - but I just thought I would share our experience. Just so you would know the Luxury suites are amazing as well - and slightly cheaper - only difference was one huge soaking tub instead of two. We had an outdoor solarium as well. Have a great time - you will love it!!<BR>

FYI-Cap Juluca will not honor a specific room request, but they try and often do honor an upper vs lower floor request. The junior suite and or luxury room with the private roof top is usually the upstairs center room #5.

There are at least five different junior suite layouts; probably more. The ones we prefer are Villa 11-3 (downstairs), Villa 12-1 (downstairs), Villa 12-4 (upstairs).<BR><BR>Some junior suites are bigger than others. Naturally, I like the bigger ones.

Kat<BR><BR>Really that many?? Is that the pool villas you are referring to because I know that they can be configured to suit your needs. How is the upstairs 12-4 (is that a villa or a suite??)I just called my TA and requested the upstairs junior suite with the staircase to the private rooftop. ( I know that they do not take requests but it does not hurt to ask ) I just did not know that all jr. suites were not created equal!! Thanks for the info, I hope I requested the right suite!<BR><BR>

Last month we were given the upstairs junior suite with the staircase to the roof sunning area which isn't the entire roof but a small part of it. We didn't like it because it was quite a lot smaller than the jr suite we had last time with had a much bigger bathroom with huge closet area and a chaise longue in the room. <BR><BR>The numbering system at CJ is by Villa, then by room. Thus Villa 12-3, etc.<BR><BR>And, yes, there really at least 5 different configurations of junior suites.<BR><BR>I like being downstairs for instant beach access. The views upstairs are better.

Kat-I did not know the different sizes!<BR>We have always preferred the lower rooms, as we have easy access to the beach. As you know the junior suites are in villas 1-3 and 11-12. The pool villas are 15-19. <BR>Jamie we have never had a problem with bugs, and we leave our shutter doors open all day! Upper or lower really depends on personal taste, the view upstairs is better. <BR>Kat, I followed your advice and booked 10 days this time! So I am gathering my "new" books!!

Jamie-The junior suite is an upper floor, probably east end room in villa 11 or 12. The bathroom looks like a lower floor room, just as Anita described it! We love both ends of the hotel, but a lot of guests prefer the west (far) end, upper floor as you can view down the whole beach, some hate the sound of the pounding waves! <BR>Really Jamie, it will be fine! <BR>But do have them show you the pool villa! We actually had it one May!<BR> Have fun!

PS-Just curious, what other islands in the caribbean have you been too. You will find Anguilla is special. Make sure you go out of the hotel.

Hi Penny,<BR><BR>We have been to Virgin Gorda (Biras Creek), St Barths (private villa), Belize (Journey's End),Bahamas (Ocean Club -two thumbs up and Atlantis two thumbs Down)And a caribbean cruise Royal Caribbean. We did not like cruising, we had to try it once though. It takes all the experience and flavor out of a vacation - kind of the lazy way out will never do that again - hated it! We go to a lot of other places too,(Sanibel Island,Miami,New Orleans, Vermont, Pennsylvania Dutch Country) living in NY its so easy to get anywhere, its just so easy to fall into a caribbean rut because nothing in the caribean is that far away. I just tried to book Bora Bora today and all hotels are booked up thru JULY!! Maybe we've had enough beach vacations for a while and its time to try California Nappa Wine Country, heard its great! <BR><BR>Thank you again for all the helpful info!!

Hi Jamie, thanks for your travel itinery! As I live in the tri-state Ny area I have been to many of the same places. I was surprised not to see Bermuda! We liked Virgin Gorda, did Little Dix and went on to Caneel. I have been tempted by Biras! Bora Bora is too much of a trip for me!! You made me smile thinking about the Kutztown Fair in Pennsylvania Dutch Country!<BR><BR>I also think November is a nice month! The island is getting ready for high season, and lots of restaurants are happy to be opening again! Have you done restaurant research! Lots of choices and too many to chose. <BR>Enjoy! <BR><BR>

Hi Penny,<BR>So nice "chatting" with you. It's funny but I know Bermuda is beautiful since I've heard so many wonderful things but it just doesn't "call" me. My friends say the same as you. Maybe because of the seasons, when its nice there its nice where I live too! We go away in November for our Anniversary (our 2nd this year). We were actually married at Biras Creek and we loved it!<BR><BR>I'm kind of glad Bora Bora is booked its quite a flight- 14 hours of travel time. Theres one thing I do not understand when the media states that no one is travelling. The South Pacific is a long flight for everyone and not a room to be had for 10 months, go figure!<BR><BR>Thanks Penny and Anita

Jamie<BR><BR>Kat and Penny are on the ball as always. We stayed in a first floor Junior Suite - Villa 3 Rm 4 and liked it, but found it somewhat back from the beach. The east end (ie Villas 1-7) are closer to the main buildings and Georges, but further from the water (ie wide beach) - the west end is closer to the water, but further to walk to.<BR><BR>I had wondered like you about upstairs v downstairs and decided on upstairs. Having just been to Gally Bay in Antigua and tried downstairs, my preference is now for that - we loved being able to walk straight off our balcony onto the sand.<BR><BR>All the rooms are great so you'll have a fantastic time.
