Beachview Hotel / Apartments
Is anyone familiar with this hotel? It has great reviews on Trip Advisor but I haven't found anything on this forum. Would love opinions on this hotel, location, value etc. Thanks

Hi Mileaday,
We stayed at the Beachview in January and it was all that the TA reviews represented.
The property is wonderful with well appointed & maintained units. They are very roomy with full kitchens and all necessary utensils if you want to prepare meals, TV with satellite (I think, we never actually watched), dvd player and ipod docking radio. There is also a washer/dryer. One of my favorite features - the bathroom had the most amazing shower with perfect hot/cold, water pressure, etc. (OK, I sound obsessive, but sub-standard showers are a pet peeve of mine when traveling)
The pool/patio area was very nice and there is a cute snack hut serving breakfast and lunch.
It is in Payne's Bay, with the main road running between the hotel property and the water. There was not much of a "beach" directly across when we visited. There had been bad storms the week before which caused a lot of erosion. However, if you walked 5 minutes north there was plenty of beach.
There were some good restaurants within walking distance. We rented a car during our stay and think that is definitely worthwhile if for even a day or two to explore more of the island. The east coast scenery was spectacular. Also, Zac's Surf School will actually get you up and surfing in two hours.
If you are staying at Beachview, I think it's best to request one of the middle two "blocks" of units, named Avocado & Seagrape.
The Beachview is a great value for the property and location. We loved Barbados and will definitely stay at Beachview when we return. I think you'd enjoy staying there.

PS Not to hi-jack the thread, but thanks to Lois who helpd us out with directions to Browne's Beach during our stay. Her web-site is a great source for Barbados tips!

Thanks for the nice comment Ellie. Are you the couple who missed it the first day? If anyone wants to see my site it can be found at: www.barbadostips.com

Thanks for all the info, Ellie. It all sounds wonderful and just what we need. Can you tell me why you suggested the Avocado and Seagrape units? I reserved a gardenview thinking it would be quieter than the oceanview rooms because of the traffic. Any thoughts? Do you remember the names of any of the restaurants that you liked? I loved what you said about the shower - a great shower can make such a difference in our reviews of a vacation stay. Thanks for taking the time to write.
