Babymoon in Turks & Caicos
We are thinking about taking a couple of days to ourselves in late January or early February for a babymoon, and Turks & Caicos looks really appealing. We're looking at the West Bay Club in particular. I'm hoping some of the experts would be willing to address a coupls of the particular concerns I have with a babymoon in Provinciales--for example, is there access to good medical care in the event of an emergency? How about food and water safety? Are the restaurants generally OK and there is low incidence of food poisoning from improperly handled/cooked foods? I should note that my husband and I have travelled all over the world and are pretty adventurous, but there's nothing like being pregnant to make you extra cautious about what you eat and drink!! So, any restaurants that you would either recommend as generally pretty safe or, in the alternative, to avoid?
Thank you so much!

Hi KissyPants, I don't have much to add other than my husband and I are staying at the West Bay Club ourselves in February. I have heard and read wonderful things about this hotel. Best of luck with your planning and with your new baby! Happy times ahead!

I would NEVER travel to Turks and Caicos for a babymoon. I went there for a wedding last year and got norovirus, along with the rest of the island. The water was contaminated! Even if you drink bottled water, they cook with the local water AND make ice with it. And this was at the Grace Bay!! If you want to keep your baby healthy, stay away!!!

The Norovirus was at Beaches Resort and Grace Bay Club ONLY, not the entire island! It was contained immediately, and could happen anywhere, including in the States.
I feel terrible it happened to you, but the chances ever again are 1 in millions! (1 million go through TCI yearly and thats the only time it happened)
You have better odds being struck by lightning.
Also one of the safest islands for tap water, unlike Mexico and DR.
I do feel bad for you, the odds are you when it happens to you, but with those odds I'd consider the lottery!
