Aruba v. Anguilla for HM-need advice fast!

OK, I understand that Anguilla is 5 star, Aruba is 4 star. But I am trying to plan a fun honeymoon. We are 31 and 32. As luxe and beautiful as Anguilla is, we fear we will be bored. Our honeymoon is in June so it is the off season, and we understand there is little to no nightlife. We are not much on sightseeing or exploring.
Obviously Anguilla is the nicer of the two, but we are torn because I think we would have more to do (golf, water sports, nightlife, shopping, meet other young couples to socialize with) in Aruba.

For accomodations, the choice is a Luxury Junior Suite at Cuisinart vs. the Governor's Suite at the Marriot in Aruba.

Any input is appreciated- we have 24 hours to decide!

Thanks

For what you're asking, I think you know the answer already - Aruba.
Anguilla is super, but in the off-season it's pretty dead.
We were there last in Oct., and many rests. and bars were closed.
It was a fantastic time, but pretty quiet...

There is less chance of a hurricane in Aruba. We went in September and had a great time. Beaches are beautiful. Stay at the Radisson or Hyatt. And be sure to go on the Kukoo Kunuku party bus!

I like exactly what you like and I have been to both islands and I would chose Anguilla. The Governor's Suite probably can't hold a candle to any room at Cap Juluca.(I stayed at the Marriot) If golf, watersports, nightlife and shopping are your priority go to Aruba. If gorgeous white sand beaches, incredible food, exceptional service, being pampered and the friendliest people with a little bit of fun is your priority go to Anguilla.

Definitely Anguilla, and if you feel that you miss the crazy 'hot' night life, take the shuttle speed boat to Marigot in St. Martin (French side). Anguilla beaches are better than Aruba's.

You'll appreciate the serenity and peacefulness of Anguilla after all the hectic wedding stuff. You can be as busy as you want exploring different beaches, taking a sail, spending a day maybe at Scilly Cay, going to Bankies or Sandy Ground in the evening after dinner. A ferry to St. Martin for some trinket shopping, A plane to St. Barth's for a day. Bored? No way.
But then, Aruba does offer casinos, tacky Tiger attractions, air conditioned high rises, Dunkin Donuts, booze buses and things like that but not much else other than beach and the food can't even compete with the restaurants on Anguilla.
I think you are being very generous rating Aruba as a 4.

Since you know the trade-offs, go to Aruba - there's much more to do. Also, you're going in June - your chances for good weather will be much better in Aruba.

June is the beginning of the Hurricane Season and the likihood of a hurricane that early in the season still makes those islands in Hurricane Alley a good safe destination. Only in the Fall do the chances of Hurricanes really play with the plans. No island is completely safe from hurricanes or storms.

You will be pretty safe on Anguilla in June, weather wise. Although it is off season, so to speak, it really winds down Sept-Oct as most restaurants and some resorts close at that time. Most re-open Nov 1st. You can check these web sites for more information:
Bob greens web site www.news.ai/
Anguilla Guide http://net.ai/main.html
and check www.stormcarib.com for weather history (archives) in June.
They will give you restaurant, hotel and weather info.
Anguilla is very dry, and when it does rain it passed over very quickly - 15 min. We found it rains a lot at night! Since Anguilla is becoming a very popular homeymoon destination and most weddings being in the summer, you will not be alone, it will not be "dead" but it never has a crowded feel to it. I would not suggest going in Sept-Oct as that is "rainy season" and most places are closed. Hope this helps you.
