Antigua---Septmeber weather--threat of hurricanes
We are considering going to Antigua/Barbuda mid. Sept. Do you think there will be a threat of bad weather? Of course, I realize there are no guarantees with mother nature, especially this time of year.
Are we crazy to even attempt it?
(travel ins. is not avail. for this trip)

From reading your other posts, does this mean you're going to be staying at the new resort on Barbuda? I hope you go and have a wonderful time!
Why isn't hurricane insurance available for this trip? I've never traveled to the Caribbean during September or October, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't take a chance if a terrific opportunity presented itself. I would, however, try to cover my backside with travel insurance.

Yes, indeed, that's where we are headed, but now I'm getting cold feet because of the current storms. We, too, have never been to the Caribbean during these months, but hubby says "I've got some time, let's GO".
As far as trip ins. I really haven't checked out for air ins.; just assumed I couldn't get it because it's booked directly with AA. As for the hotel, I'm waiting to hear from them about their cancellations policy. I feel confident, though, they will do everything they can to make it right, in case of bad weather.

Yes, Sept. is usually the worst. But even then, there's a much better chance you WON'T see a hurricane.
My wife and I were married on Sept. 17, many years ago (!), and immediately honeymooned in the Virgin Islands. The weather was fine. Several years later, on two different occasions, very destructive storms hit the VI on Sept. 17.
Conversely, we thought we were safe scheduling a trip last year in early Dec., and ended up being affected by the "latest ever" tropical storm.
If you have the option of going at some other time, I would avoid Sept. If you DON'T have that option, enjoy your trip. Chances are the weather will be okay.
