This is the old Casuarina Hotel that was purchased by Almond Resorts and will reopen as an all-inclusive in the St. Lawrence Gap area. It will reopen on April 15, 2006 as ALMOND CASUARINA BEACH (an all-inclusive). When it reopens it will have 3 new restaurants, an additional 100 hotel rooms and updated sporting facilities.

Hope this helps.

Lois, does the expansion mean that the lush gardens and beautiful casuarina that gave the place its name have been decimated ?

I have no idea. I would think they might need to use some of the grounds area. I'll be sure to post if I know anything.

The previous owners spent many years creating an ecologically friendly tropical garden paradise, probably the most gorgeous hotel grounds on the island. If Almond ruined this, it would be a crime. I guess they are entitled to do what they want, but they are classless.
